the tearful hug between tylee's mom and mack 😢
Folks gotta understand that that stuff right there is why Mack's not getting more pressure to leave.

As much as the Tar Pit folks hate to admit it, Carolina sports is about more than winning. It's about using sports to develop character. It started with Dean Smith and it carries on to this day.

The silent majority of Carolina fans care more about character than they do about winning (and particularly winning in football), so as long as there are moms of his players wiling to hug Mack that long, he gets to stay as long as he wants to.

I told this very thing to my buddy on the way home from the game today. I quickly followed it up with the fact that BOTH can be done, and ultimately we need someone who can actually coach AND be an example to the kids.

agreed. although i will quibble with your final point - he doesn't get to stay as long as he wants in perpetuity - the state game is going to be his last as our HC.

i do agree with the decision to keep him on for the rest of this season, though. this team isn't doing anything with or without him, no reason for the indignity of a midseason resignation. keep things stable and the job carousel doesn't really begin in earnest until december. we should be putting out some feelers in the meantime.

I’ll tell ya life is so fragile. I had aortic valve replacement back in April and feel like I got a second chance at life. On a day like today with this young man being struck down and stripped of life at such a young age ,I feel a bit guilty. It doesn’t seem fair.
