Agreed, but the best supporting actor winner that year was Tommy Lee Jones for The Fugitive, and that was a deserving performance too. The fact that Kilmer wasn't even nominated is the sad part.

He played Jim Morrison in 91, Doc Holliday in 93 and b/w those squeezed in a minor role as an ostensible Elvis in True Romance (great role even if it only yielded about 3 minutes of screen time). If he stayed in character that whole time, that's a lot of debauchery and disillusion squeezed into three years...
