I suppose I could admit that Romney's fascination with Russia seems less ridiculous than it did at the time. Without saying he was right per se, perhaps "the 1980s wants its foreign policy back" line was unjustified.
But again, that's the problem with the GOP. Since they are so rarely serious about anything, nobody takes them seriously. "Russia" was attributed to Romney doing more red-baiting, to recreate the electoral dynamics of the cold war. Remember, Romney's campaign was notorious for lying, though it was a truth bomb compared to Trump. Remember "Lyin' Ryan"? Guy lied about his marathon time for no reason. He lied about a lot of other stuff too. I had a colleague whose wife was good friends with Paul Ryan's wife and so they would see each other every year at some vacation at a lake somewhere in Wisconsin. He had always known Paul to be a straight shooter, so his transformation into professional bullshitter was hard for my colleague to take.

It's not bad at all. Obama was subjected to thousands of times more disparagement than he ever dished out. Not going to talk about that and get distracted.
