If Orban loses, and he's trailing pretty badly in most polls that I've seen, then it will likely send shivers through the GOP and conservative movement in America. Orban has been the hero and template for much of what they've tried to do here. Of course he might try to steal the election, or just refuse to leave office even if he loses, like Trump wanted to do after losing in 2020. But it's still not a good look for a man who has spent years rigging his country's political, media, and even cultural and social structure to favor his party to be trailing so badly right before another reelection bid. It seems like most Hungarians have finally grown tired of one of MAGA's favorite foreign strongmen.

It has been clear for a long time that President Trump is a person with a disorganized mind and a disordered personality. What the past few months and especially the past few weeks have brought into focus is how the president’s pathologies have cascaded downward and outward through his administration. They have become institutionalized. The reason the administration so often does not act coherently is because it cannot. The world faces something new and baffling and frightening in Mr. Trump’s second term: a psychotic state.

This does not mean that every individual in the government is emotionally or psychologically unstable. Nor is it a clinical diagnosis of the president himself. The issue is that the administration as a whole lacks a consistent attachment to reality and the ability to organize its thinking coherently. Mr. Trump’s grandiosity, his impulsivity, inconsistency and his outright breaks with reality have become state policy.

In that respect, Mr. Trump’s second term is different from his first. In 2020, he could confabulate about the election result or babble about treating Covid with injections of disinfectant. But he could not translate his fantasies into reality — at least not usually. In the second term, by contrast, institutional psychosis has been on display since Day 1.…”

More about Trump posting a snuff film — the victim was also an immigrant
The last point is important. Maybe the math-challenged like calla can understand better with a concrete example.

The typical MAGA rant goes something like, "if this killer wasn't in this country, then so-and-so would be alive right now. They bring murder."

It's the other side of the equation they don't understand. If the immigrant victim wasn't in this country, then the victim would have instead been natural-born. That is, immigration brings more killers into the country, but it also brings more potential victims for the killers that are already here. The numerator (killings) and denominator (potential victims) both increase. And if the immigrants are lower-crime, then that fraction -- killings/potential victims -- decreases. Meaning all Americans are more safe.

If only someone, somewhere, had said this and warned about him before the elections of 2016 and 2024. Oh, wait, there were lots of people who told anyone who would listen that Trump had a disordered, warped personality, that he was disconnected from reality, and that he was in no way fit to be POTUS. And yet here we are. Some people really do have to learn the hard way, I guess. And some would probably rather die than admit that they were wrong about him, because it would be admitting that the libs had owned them, not the other way around. (Or, rather, that they just owned themselves).
