I just want to be sure that in the unending avalanche of bullshit, we don't miss this quote --

"I'm allowed to destroy the country, but . . . ."

Whatever follows that is irrelevant. Any person in a position to wield national power who would utter that statement MUST have all power removed immediately. Perhaps the Nazi/Hitler comparisons are overblown (although I think they are not), but this is a sentence that would only pass through the lips of a Hitler-style psychopath.
From the context of that quote is honestly wasn't clear to me whether he meant "destroy the [USA]" or "destroy the [foreign] country." I think it was the latter. Not sure that either is any less alarming, but a good example of how Trump's brand of verbal diarrhea lets him just say shit and then decide later what it means (hence this thread).

I absolutely think he meant destroy the other country. And I stand by my initial reaction 100%.

People used to get irate at any whiff of the President engaging in partisan politics in the WH from the podium with the presidential seal in the frame. I know that ship has long sailed …

It used to be the President was the President of the entire country.

Trump is explicitly the President only of the white people who voted for him. Everyone else is his enemy.

Also, again, his party already controls Congress. How is he going to convince his base that it matters whether Republicans s get elected to Congress when he refuses to work with the Republicans who are already there?
