FTR, the way those types of disclosures work, she actually disclosed a net worth of between $6 - $30 million. When you look at the details, it is mostly due to her husband’s (Tim Mynett) business. He left a partnership at a large political consulting firm to start his own firm not long after they married. His firm started with little value (about $51,000 in her 2023 disclosures) but is listed as worth between $5 - $25 million now.
Maybe there is something illegal or otherwise nefarious about how Mynett made his money after starting his own firm as the husband of a left wing House member, I dunno, but the available details are being distorted by Trump and others.
As an aside, Ilhan has had an interesting personal life — Mynett is technically her fourth marriage, though she married (at least by religion if not legally) the same guy twice, before meeting Mynett as her paid consultant when she ran for Congress for her second term.
