Congress needs to write an exception to the civil jurisdiction to allow the president to be sued for defamation. And to make it a criminal offense for the president to intentionally defame any person.

Congress needs to do a lot of shit, especially in terms of reining in Executive Power.

It won’t.

And, the next Democrat elected to the Oval Office, if that happens, will revel in expanded Executive Power.

The Imperial Presidency has become reality since at least the Nixon Era (maybe LBJ, Ike, FDR), no POTUS has advocated for his power to be lessened and restrained.

Each new POTUS smiles when he sees his power.

Trump went on a mad posting spree after midnight last night. Still collecting examples, but key topics are claims that media is hiding Venezuelan celebrations, “Somalification” of America, alleged voter fraud in 2020 & attacks on Ilhan Omar, as well as other obsessions.

I'm infuriated with natural causes for being so asleep at the switch (and while we're at it, Covid-19 for an obvious missed opportunity). He's routinely eaten fast food for decades and he doesn't exercise. No idea what the holdup is there for similar behaviors which have claimed millions who never made it to 80.

Although it won't solve the problem or the current political climate by a long shot, just imagine the number of celebrations which will spontaneously erupt both here at home and abroad when he finally keels over.

We'll see. What happened after Watergate?

A lot of Congressional inaction is inertia. It's like the problem of pushing a large truck. If you're just trying to go from A to B, you might not care enough to recruit the ten guys necessary to get it rolling. But if the truck is emitting toxins into the water supply, then it will be less difficult to recruit a pushing team. And then the truck starts to roll itself.

As I've said, we need a new constitution. And we need to get rid of the obstruction states, the moocher states that contribute nothing but fascism. If Trump obliterates NATO, then the next Dem president needs to capture the governors of Florida, Arkansas, Alabama, etc and replace them with stooges who will formally withdraw from the United States.
