If the memes have accompanying text, it's not so bad.

IDK, I think there are probably lots of people on the spectrum who struggle with memes. If you have trouble reading emotions, memes are just middle fingers really.

I wasn't trying to make fun of you. I was trying to be ironic by replying with a gif of Stone Cold Steve Austin giving a middle finger.

Most people don't have a lot of direct experience with high functioning autism. They hear (well see) you say that you don't get gifs, but they don't really understand what you mean. They see you as somebody clearly VERY smart... they just don't understand how a brain as smart as yours could truly not get gifs.

In their misunderstanding, they see it as the same as when I say I don't get country music. It's not that my brain just can't comprehend it... it's just bewildering to me how somebody can listen to it and think it's good music. They assume that your brain understands the gif... but you just don't see the humor in it.

Had cataract surgery today and the wife drove me. On the way home we went to the Town Hall Grill in Southern Village. They are very active in autism awareness and that Mondo burger is great!!
I think the first time I ever understood about high functioning autism was the Boston Legal and the attorney with Asperger's Jerry “Hands”. Have always had a soft spot for the socially awkward as I’m the opposite.
