I have for years and will do so again tomorrow support SBS . . I have 3 businesses that I make a point of giving them a bit of consumer attention.
It's a holiday tradition for myself.
I have never gone out shopping on Black Friday, as I have kept my after Turkey Day shopping to the wknd.
Anyone else . . ?

I’d think a good way to participate would be to cancel an amazon subscription.

Convenience used to be the hallmark of mom & pops and other small businesses, until the concept of convenience got so warped that a quick walk or drive became an intolerable inconvenience.

Combine that with getting undercut on prices by manipulating the marketplace (like all monopolies do), and nearly every purchase becomes a political statement whether we acknowledge it or not.

Perhaps a luxurious way of thinking about it, but IMO the important thing is to actually think about it. A day like today helps, but it’s a drop in the bucket if people aren’t conscious consumers.

Massachusetts Street is our version of Franklin Street. Though I think Mass St is more integral to Lawrence than Franklin is to CH. It’s really struggling with the economy with a lot of shops closing.

I’m headed down there now to make the rounds to the stores I love.

Small businsses can get hammered by "Gubt" But in large part it is local gov't that adds never ending fees etc on them.
Ex
During COVID restaurants had to open their sidewalks etc to get customers Orange Conty/CH etc slammed them with all new liscense fees. ABC permit fees etc Stupid as hell
Now I will say I know zero small businees owners -and I know a lot of them-that don't have ther personal F-150 vehicle listed as a businees expense..............
