For the record, I 100% believe that anyone found to be guilty of defrauding the government in excess of a million dollars should be executed, preferably publicly and with great fanfare. I realize that is medieval but those folks deserve it and it rots our society.

My stance could also be based on the fact that a former business partner did this and I would still rip his throat from his body if given the opportunity. Stole 4 Million in PPP fraud and spent 14 months in a glorified country club. No disincentive at all.

MAGA Trumpers accusing anyone else of fraud and going after them self-righteously has got to be one of the biggest jokes and hypocrisies of recent times. Not that people defrauding others isn't bad and shouldn't be punished, but the connections in this scandal to MN Democrats and especially Walz are slim at best, and given the vast and growing fraud and grifting under Trump - his administration may well go down as the single most corrupt in American political history - right-wing media going after Walz over this is rich. I mean, the goddamn idiocy that it takes to think the 1-2% of our annual budget that goes to international aid is the reason we’re 37 trillion in debt. The absolute mind-numbing racism and ignorance of economics that it takes to blame immigrants. The total lack of intelligence to ignore the role that massive tax breaks for the wealthy and corporations play in the debt. The hubris to think that we can go it alone in a global economy. And nobody said the majority of our debt came for foreign aid. There are many contributors to this debt. One major contributor is the massive generational welfare state this country allows for where millions are allowed to just live off the government. You do realize that we have allowed "millions of immigrants" to enter this country before and they all eventually assimilated into American society and culture, despite the claims of people like you that it would never happen? In the late 19th and early 20th Centuries we allowed millions of Italians, Russians and Poles, Russian Jews, and others into this country and nativists just like you said that these people were inferior and didn't speak English and weren't Protestant Christians and would never assimilate into American society, and yet they obviously did. In the mid-1800s Americans in New England were afraid of the large numbers (for them) of Irish Catholics coming into Boston and discriminated against them and said that they would never become real Americans, and yet they did.

Not only was allowing all of these people into the country not suicidal, immigrants have been one of this nation's greatest sources of strength, and without them we would not be the global superpower that we are today (or at least were). Who do you think does most of the construction work in this country now, who makes up the staffs of hospitals, retirement and nursing homes, and the wait staff at restaurants and migrant farm workers and all of those other jobs that more and more native-born Americans won't do? That's right - immigrants. And they and especially their children will be just as "American" as anyone else, just like every other generation of immigrants who came here. People with your view have been proven wrong in American history over and over and over again.

You can call it lunacy or national suicide just like nativists in the 1920s falsely did, but you're actually just turning your back on one of the main things that has made this nation so great - large-scale immigration from around the world, taking in the talents of other nations and making them our own.
