SOTU 2026

Yes, as I gave said before, Trump has uncovered something very embarrassing about tens of millions of Americans - when someone brazenly does corruption right in front of their faces, they will assume it must not be corruption because otherwise it would be hidden.
Hell, I'm not even talking about corruption. I'm talking about Trump watches, shoes, coins, Bibles, NFTs, guitars. etc.

I bet you have a Trump guitar in your office.

My wife got us tix to Keb Mo at the Carolina Theater last night so thankfully I missed the whole SOTU! “Put A Woman in Charge” brought down the house. He’s a great entertainer for sure! Sounds like Trump was doing an impression of Jon Lovitz Tommy Flanagan character!

Saw Keb just last February in my fair city. Killer show. And yes, "Put a Woman in Charge" always rocks the house.

I have a daughter in college. She's never had a serious boyfriend, that I know of.

I lean toward MLKj's views of people....content of character, not color of skin.

EDIT: I take no pride in my skin tone and don't understand why anyone would.
You take no pride in your skin tone BECAUSE it has never negatively affected your world. You're on top, culturally, economically, your physical safety, your voice in government, your interactions with public safety. None of those things have been adversely affected by your skin tone. Of course your skin tone carries no pride, it just exists perfectly in a world made for your skin tone.

However, try, just try to look at all of that from someone's point of view with darker skin tone. Do they get equal treatment culturally, economically, is their physical safety commiserate (in all circumstances) as yours, how about their representation in government, how about the applicability of laws?

Man, just go youtube James Baldwin and listen and try to put yourself in the body of someone with a different skin tone.

Even as a politics junkie, I didn't watch one single solitary second of the SOTU. I had zero interest in watching a bunch of cuckolded eunuch Republicans clapping along like a bunch of slackjawed seals, and zero interest in watching Democrats do their usual lame, feckless, and impotent feigned outrage routine. It's incredibly humiliating this morning reading about how our dementia-riddled president and the opposition party apparently played a game of Political Simon Says with one another. I'm so sick of this theatrical bullshit when the cost of living is as unaffordable as it has ever been for more people than ever before, when we are on the verge of initiating yet another mindless war in the Middle East that is going to cost U.S. lives and treasure, and when we have a government full of pedophile protectors on both sides of the aisle.
I've wondered if the best "political theater" would have been for ALL democrats to skip Der Führer's speech entirely and return home for a day of "constituent service." Volunteer for the day at a homeless shelter, a highway cleanup crew, a food kitchen, a public school, a delivery service for shut-ins, a retirement home, a business struggling because of Trump's policies, etc. The possibilities are endless. A half-empty chamber, when contrasted with the coverage of representatives helping struggling people, would be powerful and visually show who actually cares about the common man. And don't worry about pubs following your lead in future SOTUs. They're incapable of caring for others. They'd be golfing.

Sounds like I made a good decision skipping the SOTU - should I bother watching the Democratic response - in the past regardless of party I find the opposition response to be mostly forgettable

This is exactly the reaction I was hoping to see this morning, because it means Trump will keep doing what he’s been doing.
To be fair, Trump could have gone up there, taken his diaper off and thrown it at AOC and Ram would have fellated him, so that statement by the aroused ram gives no actual indication of anything
