Surgeon perfoms vasectomy on himself

Wasn’t there one in Antarctica who performed an appendectomy on himself? That would be gnarly.

When I went for my vasectomy the nurses were shocked that I drove myself and elected not to take the pre-op Xanax. Said hardly anyone does that. Honestly it was no worse than getting a tooth pulled (probably preferably to that) and we talked about UNC sports the whole time.

Same thing happened with my oral surgery for my implant. The front office almost cancelled my surgery when I told them I planned to take the subway home, because it did not occur to them I had elected to only have local anesthesia. I think it freaked the doc out to have me awake while he was doing it, as he must have asked me 50 times during the procedure if I was ok.

Interesting.

I don't recall being offered Xanax for either of my vasectomies.

The first doctor talked sports. I don't recall the second talking.

The funniest thing for me was the nurse that shaved me. She said "I don't know why they even ask men to shave you never do a good job" as she grabbed the head and moved things around quickly with one hand and aggressively shaved with the other. I was very happy the razor had a guard on it.

. . . and we talked about UNC sports the whole time.
If this was during football season, the procedure could have been done without local anesthesia and it would still have been the second most painful thing going on.

It was during the 2022 ACC tournament. Went home and watched UNC lose to VT lol
