TACO Tuesday

I hesitate to start a thread that will only relate to one day per week, but what the hell.

"Taco Tuesday is a custom in the United States of eating tacos or in some cases select Tex-Mex dishes, typically served in a tortilla, on Tuesday nights."

And with that prelude --

"President Donald Trump extended a trade truce with China for another 90 days Monday, at least delaying once again a dangerous showdown between the world’s two biggest economies."

To clarify... not tacos, specifically. Mexican Food. You can't beat it!
Mexican food is great. But if I had to choose a food culture to be the only one to eat for the rest of my life, I think I'd choose Southeast Asian, Japanese, and maybe Italian over Mexican.

Pretty inaccurate to state that Trump ALWAYS chickens out. After all, he's already secured favorable deals with the EU, UK, Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines and a preliminary deal with China. No real surprise that it is taking time to ink a deal as complicated as a trade agreement with the 2nd largest economy in the world. Other countries will eventually fall in line. The deal with India was imminent until the Russia secondary sanctions issue reared its head, causing the deal to be put on hold.

Three great choices for cuisine. Although, if I was forced to choose I would have to go with Italian - but Mexican is a close 2nd.

American Mexican food yes. Has anyone had real Mexican food? Same for American Chinese food, delish. Real Chinese food? No idea.

There is plenty of "real Mexican food" in the US, especially in California and the Southwest, but also pretty much wherever large Mexican immigrant populations are located. There are several places in Greensboro that serve great "real" Mexican food.

Probably harder to find "real" Chinese food, and personally that's a food culture I'm much less familiar with, but if you live near the Triangle, there is a place called Gourmet Kingdom in Carrboro that serves "real" Chinese food. But don't go without someone who knows what they're doing in ordering, or you could end up with some stuff that will seem excessively strange and/or excessively spicy.

Real Chinese food is very readily available in NYC and San Francisco. There are others Im sure, but those 2 I can personally attest to.

Good point - I should have said harder to find outside of major coastal metro areas. At least compared to "real" Mexican food.

Gourmet Kingdom is our go to. I go with my daughter in law who was born in Taiwan. We order off the Chinese menu. There is definitely some things that are strange and some that are extremely spicy there's there's some good food there.

I live about halfway between there and Fiesta Grill on 54 that does a pretty good job on Mexican.

It turns out the other party in those deals describe the details very differently than Trump. Based on history my assumption is simply that Trump is lying about those “favorable deals.”

Me too in SF. Wandered into a place at lunch in Chinatown. Wife and I were the only non Chinese; we ate at a common table; and no menu in English so we had to point at the food we wanted. Delicious, although we kept our order pretty basic.
