I was recently in Prince Edward Island. Nearly every place that has any kind of tourist connection that ships goods (instead of tourists having to haul things back directly) has a sign up right now saying "We are temporarily halting shipments to the US due to new regulations."

UPS is ‘disposing of’ U.S.-bound packages over customs paperwork problems

There must be something perverse about me. When reading about this shipping issue, I couldn't help but laugh.

That post describes how the trump administration has upended world trade but makes the antagonist China.

It would be hilarious is Winnie the Pooh made a post about “everyone is saying how unfair china has been treated on trade so I have no choice but to limit rare earths and magnets. Thank you for your attention to this matter”

I’m surprised by the degree of market reaction as it seemed over the past five months the market had developed a built-in understanding that where the Tariff Man goes, the TACO Man follows.

UPS is telling customers that their packages coming to the US are marked for destruction

Some customers of the shipping service say that packages sent to the US from abroad are getting held up at the carrier's facilities for weeks and, in some cases, are being subjected to higher-than-expected tariffs and customs brokerage fees, according to tracking information. Eight people whom Business Insider spoke to said that they received updates indicating they might never get their packages at all.

"The package is undeliverable and is in the process of being disposed of according to the local guidelines," reads one tracking update sent to several UPS customers Business Insider spoke with and posted widely on a subreddit for UPS users.

For many of these UPS customers, the delayed packages marked their first encounter with international shipping in the era of tariffs
imposed by President Donald Trump's administration this year.

China did not say it is putting export controls on virtually every product they make. How would that even fucking work? They are an export economy. They're like, "let's be poor now"?
