I don't believe anybody's endorsement moves the needle that much. At best, it gets the undecided motivated. This election is close enough that anything helps and her demographic is exactly the one mostly closely affected by women's and reproductive rights. It's about as on point as an endorsement gets.

Thought I saw somewhere that through her relationship with Kelce, she’s become friends with Brittany Mahomes (the QB’s wife for non-NFL fans) and apparently she’s a Republican. Could be messaging it that way to keep the peace in the friendship.
they've been "friends" for less than a year, her statement had nothing to do with brittany mahomes.

if anything, progressives bitching about her hanging out with mahomes this past weekend and the fact that she hadn't endorsed kamala yet (along with the debate timing, obviously) may have helped push her to go ahead and make her endorsement.

I don't disagree. IMO, not matter how you slice it, her impact will be negligible. She might be the deciding factor for a very small number of undecideds who actual vote and may influence a very small number of people to vote, who otherwise wouldn't have.
Correction.... "marginal", not "negligible".

And with a closely divided electorate, these things are often won on the margin.

Do your own research also sounds like stay informed and don’t believe everything you see online.
Sure it could. But ever since COVID, anytime I hear "do your own research" it brings me to a negative connotation of the phrase. Guess that's on me though for not trusting people to do their own research and get the correct facts.
Such as the fake AI Taylor and Donald images that were posted.
Was this the first time she spoke on the fake AI Trump endorsement? If so, she could have killed that story in two seconds the day Trump reposted the fake endorsement... Just a simple "these are fake images" without any Harris endorsement at the time would have worked.

Now CNN last night made a great point, that this helps Kamala with a demo she’s already strong in. She needs help with men, and this is where Travis Kelce needs to step in.

The messaging was very clear.

Everyone knew they were fake.

A reasonable take, but I continue to think you're underrating (1) how important celebrity endorsements can be for driving turnout - especially a celebrity with the fan base and global recognition of Taylor Swift - and (2) how important a few thousands votes in some states are potentially going to be in this election given how thin the margins are.

I mean there's a reason the RNC gave prime speaking spots to doofuses like Hulk Hogan and Kid Rock. A lot of fairly low-to-moderate-information voters care more than you think about aping the behavior of famous celebrities that they support - athletes, musicians, entertainers, whatever - in the political arena.

I could've done without the "do your own research" part and understand that she probably said that so as not to come off as directly telling her fans who to vote for....

Also, as naive as it sounds, she probably though it might blunt some of the attacks from right-wing media, MAGA nuts... for her endorsement of Harris because she suggested that her fans "do their on research" and make their own decisions.
I actually like the soft sale in hard sale world.

Taylor Swift encouraged her followers to register and vote. I would like to see some post debate voter registration data in the coming days.

When people register to vote, they usually vote
When voters vote, Dems win

Think this will be more or less impactful than Dick Cheney’s endorsement?

Yeah point 2 is the big one. Say in NC Taylor gets 50,000 people a little more motivated to vote. That's less than half a percent of the population of NC. But that could also completely flip the election

Definitely more. Cheney's endorsement arguably hurts Kamala more than it helps. I personally wish she hadn't mentioned it during the debate.

I agree that a few thousand votes could be big. It would be an interesting exist poll question: "Are you here because of a celebrity endorsement or was your vote influenced by a celebrity endorsement?"

I've never seen any research on the topic.

Everyone knew they were fake.
You have to remember that you're including millions of people stuck in a disinformation bubble with "everyone knew they were fake."

She clearly had not endorsed Harris at the time after backing Biden the last time and by not making a statement about the GOP nominee for POTUS using fake AI images of her endorsing him, it left the door open for many to wonder where she stood this time. I'm not looking for her to bother taking the time to refute MAGA Karens... posting the fake images.

It is permissive. That's why those matter. I doubt it hurts at all.

Donald trump is literally a celebrity endorsement. That’s the major reason he’s even the candidate.
