We spatchcock when we do turkey but I have to agree with America canned cranberry is better for leftovers than the whole berry stuff!

I made cranberry sauce this year for the first time. Of course we still have a can of the other stuff.
 
Thankful La Hacienda in Chapel Hill was open yesterday. Our usual spot, even though they said on their website they were open for TG, was closed. And then Wicked for Good was excellent as well
 
Was a tough one for my family this year with it being the first Thanksgiving since my father passed away in September. He absolutely loved Thanksgiving more than any of us and always went out of his way to try and make sure everyone had their favorite side dish, pie..... This often lead to an argument between him and my mom about having too much food (always did) but he came out on top of most of those arguments and the spread usually extended well beyond the dining room table.

To make matters worse, a jury duty notice for him was in Wednesday's mail and that upset my mother for a couple different reasons. One being that it stated that they wanted it back within 5 days, so that's a bit of a rush getting it filled out and mailed today. And then having to fill out a whole page of shit before you even get to the excused/deceased part. Why that's not one of the first pieces of information that they would want is beyond me.
I filled it out for her but needed some answers from her for a few questions and you could tell it was all she could do not to cry. If it wasn't for my mother, I would have thrown the thing in the trash and let them have fun trying to take action against a deceased person.

Anyway, it was a fine Thanksgiving considering the circumstances and hope everyone enjoyed theirs.
 
Just had my first plate of leftovers:

Cold turkey, mayo, pepper on Hawaiian rolls, stuffing, Mac and Cheese.

It’s even better the second time around
