Just had my first plate of leftovers:

Cold turkey, mayo, pepper on Hawaiian rolls, stuffing, Mac and Cheese.

It’s even better the second time around
I'm with you my friend:)

I'm getting ready to settle for my leftover dinner and will try to make my servings less than yesterday👃

Scalloped oysters, sweet potato casserole, cornbread dressing, cranberry relish, and a couple of dinner rolls...but no dessert 🙃

Was a tough one for my family this year with it being the first Thanksgiving since my father passed away in September. He absolutely loved Thanksgiving more than any of us and always went out of his way to try and make sure everyone had their favorite side dish, pie..... This often lead to an argument between him and my mom about having too much food (always did) but he came out on top of most of those arguments and the spread usually extended well beyond the dining room table.

To make matters worse, a jury duty notice for him was in Wednesday's mail and that upset my mother for a couple different reasons. One being that it stated that they wanted it back within 5 days, so that's a bit of a rush getting it filled out and mailed today. And then having to fill out a whole page of shit before you even get to the excused/deceased part. Why that's not one of the first pieces of information that they would want is beyond me.
I filled it out for her but needed some answers from her for a few questions and you could tell it was all she could do not to cry. If it wasn't for my mother, I would have thrown the thing in the trash and let them have fun trying to take action against a deceased person.

Anyway, it was a fine Thanksgiving considering the circumstances and hope everyone enjoyed theirs.
I really understand the jury duty thing.

My father died on Halloween 2024, I still get mail for him. Much from the government. I would think that they would know he had died.

Just had an out of body experience with a cheap packet of spicy curry ramen noodles with some Chinese broccoli, a cup of leftover mashed butternut squash, and leftover turkey breast tossed in. The curry and the squash and the turkey played so perfectly together. The Chinese broccoli added a nice crunch and a bit of greenery. The sum was way more than the parts.

Now down to the serious business of boiling the carcass down for stock.

The giblets, heart and neck are going into the stockpot. What says the ZZPL on the liver? It definitely makes for a richer stock, but I’m not convinced I like the final product as much.

Or maybe to put it another way, I’m not sure the final product is as versatile when you use the liver.

What's funny is that a couple years ago it was such a problem that the local news station and local news paper both had stories about deceased people receiving jury duty notices and how the state vowed to have the issue resolved quickly by getting the deceased into the system a lot quicker.

Guess they are still lagging behind because it's been almost 2 1/2 months. But they sure can almost immediately stop any payments... from hitting the accounts.

So I drove today from Fairfax County to Garner
5 hours in virginia, 3-4 packed lanes Almost everyone kept their lane, 60-20-0-40 etc
Turned onto 64 in Rocly Mount-moderate to heavy traffic -no asshat drivers-until a few miles into Wake County
At least 4 total scumbag lane changing , tail gating pickups Total asshats
Sad

I stopped eating meat earlier this year for my health so no turkey or ham for me. My family doesn't understand and they openly mock me but I just want to feel better and healthier.

Truly a lonely thanksgiving this year.
👏👍
My wife has been a vegetarian for over 40 years. That basically makes me one too. You weren’t alone this year…
