The Charlie Kirk Thread

It wasn't the hat and sunglasses that gave me pause. It was the detachable rifle in the duffle bag. I mean, maybe in a suitcase would have been even more movie, but I can see Jean Reno taking apart his gun and stashing it after making a hit.

And again, I wasn't trying to criticize you. I don't know shit about guns and what is and isn't available/feasible.
OK, wasn't sure what you thought was too dramatic. But a gun that you could break down makes a whole lot of sense if you want to sneak in and out of the scene.

I work at a Hospital, although I'm not allowed to mingle with the patients ;) (I'm a scientist). But I have to get a flu vaccine every Fall, or I lose my job. It's not a big deal, just get the fucking vaccine.

When working in a hospital many years ago I was forced to get a TB vaccine in order to keep my job. That seemed so unfair to take away my freedom to be exposed to TB even if it could spread to my patients...

There's a lot of discussion about which party's fringe is bigger or more pervasive.

I saw this FB post on another site.

My first thought is "Young, dumb probably progressive/woke and immature girl".

What is the fundamental difference between the Facebook post from that ignorant girl and this post from an assistant dean of a university? A sarcastic "aawwwwww" means exact the same thing as "ZERO sympathy", does it not?

I see you're 'doing your own research.' I don't think any of these social media posts, particularly when examined in isolation, tells you jack squat about which side has bigger or more pervasive idiocy.
he's been dying on this hill all day long.

the foremost leaders on the right, both politicians and influencers, are in lockstep with their loud and divisive and increasingly threatening rhetoric but zen is out here obsessing over 1/10 random, mostly anonymous liberals saying something inappropriate on social media.

When I told my wife that Charlie Kirk had been assassinated, she had no idea who I was talking about.

After Lee Harvey Oswald was killed, I complained to my father about the newspapers using the term assassinated to describe his killing. My father explained to me that the term assassinated isn't related to my or anyone else's personal opinion of the person killed, but to the overall societal impact of the violent killing to society.

This assassination of Charlie Kirk has the potential to have a larger impact on American politics than the attempted assassination of President Trump on the eve of the Repiblican National Convention in 2024.
I truly believe that Kirk would have been the running mate for JD Vance as his VP in 2028…He was very popular with the Gen Z crowd…
