Hmm. One guy saying that Kirk's hateful rhetoric may have played a role vs prominent people on the right calling for revenge against all democrats.

The latter seems a little more problematic, right?

How many people on CNN or MSNBC called for war when the man tried to kill Nancy Pelosi, or the legislators in Minnesota were killed, or there was an attempt on the governor of Pennsylavia's life?

But, sure, one person saying something that is a bit insensitive due to the timing is worse...

Anytime a Republican is shot, it is always, "This is War!" coming from loud, prominent parts of the right.

We heard this after both Trump assassination attempts, as well as his simple criminal indictments. We heard it after Steve Scalise was shot at the softball game. And we hear it now after Charlie Kirk is shot.

But where were the cries of war when Gabby Gifford was shot? Or the Minnesota politicians? Nowhere.

He's justifying what happened. He's saying "If you say 'mean' things, you should expect violence in response".

Do you agree with that?

Well there are multiple articles today that the Trump administration is evaluating taking action against foreign nationals who make light of the Kirk assassination.
 
Conservative declared THIS IS WAR when the green M&M got go-go boots and Potato Head lost his “Mr.” so they’ll have to pardon me if I’m not exactly quaking in my cleats about their latest declaration of war over Charlie Kirk. I’m sure the Tootsie Pop owl will get pronouns soon and we’ll have yet another spittle-flecked declaration of war.

Not at all what he said, you dumb fuck. This is another disingenuous attempt by you to sane-wash who Charlie Kirk was.

What he said was when you preach hate speech, sometimes you create the kind of hatred back at you that you spread.

Hate speech DOES NOT EQUAL "saying mean things."

Those are time for thoughts and prayers, along with calls not to politicize tragedy.

Do you believe a non citizen has the right to speak down on the country itself burn the flag and chant death to America and it’s people etc basically hate speech…….Myself I do not…
 
Late for this discussion, but my two cents:
I really have no sense of whether this guy said things that he really meant (rather like DJT). But his WORDS were commonly racist, sexist, homophobic, and dishonest. He made his (excellent) living appealing to the prejudices of angry and stupid people.
I don't personally care that he is dead, in that I care far more about other folks who have been victimized by his hatreds.
But my fear is that his death will be used to spark further hatred in the minds of stupid people. I have already seen social media comments blaming this shooting on "Democrats" or "leftists" or "transsexuals."
The actual shooter was probably mentally ill (and a gun nut) and probably not really a representative of any larger group.
It is too bad that this death will likely exacerbate tensions.

I think non-citizens are here because we allow them to be, not because they have an inherent right to be here and we, as a country, have the absolute authority to decide to remove a non-citizen.

Very odd. In the early 1970's when I worked weekends at Gravely Sanatorium, a TB hospital, as an orderly, I didn't get vaccinated. I got the skin test and an X-Ray, but no vaccine. I would have been OK with a vaccine given I worked with, turned, bathed, and fed, TB patients 2 or 3 shifts a week.

Yah....nobody is saying they can't say it. Freedom to say something isn't the same as freedom from consequences, especially when the speaker doesn't have the right to be somewhere.

Go cheer the death of people in YOUR country, where you're a citizen and have a right to be.

I agree that if you say hateful things often enough, you are certainly putting yourself at risk. I think that that is a fact of life in an imperfect world.

The problem is that you didn't take what he said at face value. Instead you extrapolated that he was in some way justifying the murder. He was not as evidence by the "unfortunate environment" words he used.

Don't blame others for your inability to understand language.
