We don’t know that. Being taught to shoot isn’t necessarily part of “the right’s extreme gun culture.”

Just like we don’t know his motive for the murder.

Saying that he had "enough of [Kirk's] hatred" is more left-leaning than right-leaning. By and large, conservatives see Kirk as a truth teller and liberals see him as a hate monger.

I understand why you are skeptical. But I think it is highly unlikely a false text would be alleged in a charging document. If the prosecutors did that, it would violate their oath and lead to potential sanctions from the court. It would also significantly imperil a high-profile prosecution. Occam’s razor says that is unlikely.

I would normally agree but normal logic does not apply when talking about these lunatics. Nothing is beyond the pale.

Again, there are front line prosecutors putting their name on that document. Even if you think everyone in the Trump administration is a lying sack of shit (and you would not be wrong), you’d have to assume that the conspiracy to defraud runs to the front line Utah prosecutors, as well. Most likely they are Mormon, which means that have an even stronger belief that they need to be perceived as good people. I don’t see local prosecutors filing a charging document with a knowingly false text.

  • “…my vehicle….” Who refers to a car or truck as “my vehicle”
  • “….my old man….” Really?
  • How long have you planning/thinking about this …….a stilted, “…a bit over a week I believe…”
  • “…change outfits……” Outfits? WTF?
 
Folks this is why the internet is bad for trying to react to events if they happen. There's so much information flying around and it's very difficult to know what is true, what's rumor, what' s guessing, etc. Instead of trying to settle the argument about whose "side" this guy on (it may well end up being nobody's side) everyone would be better served by letting this thing play out, which could take a long time.
