These threads are fun - i remember buying Cooleyhighharmony by Boyz II Men - pretty sure it was the first album/CD I ever bought - although it might have been To The Extreme by Vanilla Ice 🤦‍♂️

My first recorded music purchase was a 45, The Dave Clark 5's Glad All Over and IIRC the B side was Bits and Pieces, I think it se me back around 40 cents.

First album purchase was Meet the Beatles . .

First record: Beastie Boys Brass Monkey/Posse In Effect 45 and U2's Desire (Hollywood Remix 12")
First tape: DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince's He's the DJ, I'm the Rapper
First CD: A Tribe Called Quest's Midnight Marauders (also bought Wrecks-n-Effect's Rump Shaker but we're not gonna count that here, it was sold a month after buying it)

Currently listening to some City Pop on Apple Music through a WiiM Mini streamer using AirPlay, into a Luxman CL-38uC pre-amp (bought last week second-hand), feeding a NAD C298 amplifier, feeding my dream speakers, Martin Logan ESL9's and a Rel T/9i subwoofer.

I don't know what the first album I bought was. I'm sure that I chose some as a kid with my parent's help, but I couldn't remember what they are. I do know that I loved the Footloose soundtrack a lot when I was young.

The first album I bought all on my own was N.W.A's Straight Outta Compton. I was such a little gangsta at 11 years old.

The Beatles were my musical foundation. Almost all of my first purchases were their albums. My parents bought me singles but I can’t remember my first independent purchase. My first non Beatles purchases were Led Zeppelin II and Who’s Next.

I have tons of LPs and CDs taking up space but I can’t part with any of them.

FYI--if you still have your original copy, and it's a little worn....

The first album I really remember buying? This is one I drove in my car to buy myself. Not that Columbia record deal with the 10 cd’s.

Cypress Hill Black Sunday. I can still remember driving out of town, ripping it out of the plastic and putting it in the cd player. It was raining and I can still see the building I was driving buy. Such a strong memory I can damn near smell it.
