Do I have this right? 1. The judges screwed up the scoring. 2. No one disputes that the judges made a mistake. 3. It took the Americans 64 seconds rather than 60 seconds to redo the judges' math and determine that the judges screwed up. 4. IOC response, "No soup for you!" and snatches the Bronze medal away.

Yep, the gymnastics group in particular has such a shady history. They twice fudged the starting scores of Soviet female gymnasts in 1968 to award them gold medals that should have gone outright to Czech gymnast Vera Caslavska. Caslavska had publicly voiced her strong opposition to the Soviet invasion of Czechoslavakia earlier that year, and many think those scores were payback for it.
