Leave it to the King of England to gently explain what America and shared governance (i.e., separation of powers) are all about and the responsibilities of Congress. Charles III emphasized our mutual interests and the spirit of cooperation to defend Ukraine, ensure liberty, and fight common enemies, including Russia and climate change. He emphasized turning Christian faith into good works. Incredibly well-written. Kudos to the speechwriters for a very American tale and a 250th anniversary gift.

A well spent 34 minutes:

George VI was a man who never expected, nor wanted to be, King. He worked hard to overcome his speech impediment and was monarch during one of Great Britain’s most difficult times. I thought it was a very good and inspiring move.
I agree with that. And his brother seems to have been an insufferable cunt on nearly every level.

He was. It turned out that he was not very anti Nazi. George V said of his oldest son Edward, “That boy is going to get himself into a lot of trouble one day.”

That’s a great story.

And a terrible movie. 😬
