The Music Thread

Robert Plant is 77 today. This is the last song on Led Zeppelin's last studio album, In Through the Out Door, released in August 1979.

Brent Hinds, formerly of the band Mastodon, passed away today when a car failed to yield while he was riding a motorcycle. He was a monster guitar player and only 51 years old. He left the band earlier this year under some seemingly acrimonious circumstances, but the music stands for itself.

This is the opening song off of their first really successful album, which was a concept album about Moby Dick of all things. Sound quality is not great- much better on Spotify or better yet the actual album with good quality headphones, but you get the idea:

This is probably my favorite song by them (video is NSFW):

You know me so well

So many CDs to choose... any advice ?
Nah. I don't actually buy music anymore. My son has me set up where I have almost unlimited access to everything I'm likely to want to hear. I don't think it's anything fancy but I don't know. He has enough server capacity to run a small business. Since he's an ubergeek and lives next door I don't bother learning about anything except stop, go and select.
