As important as the national and state races are, our local rep races are arguably as, or more, important. This thread is for supporting your local reps.

I'll start. I'm down Wilmington way and Dr David Hill is running for state senate in District 7 (New Hanover minus downtown Wilmington more or less). I've talked to the guy twice on the phone for about 20 minutes each time. He's putting in the work. He's seems to be a really good guy with a super high political ceiling. Certainly passes the "beer" test, at least over the phone.

If you're down this way please consider supporting him (he's running against Mike Lee).

Let's all do our part to break the super majority in the NC house this election!

I live in Wake County. Anyone know anybody running in the local elections and can give a comment either up or down on why they like or don't like them?

I'm hoping for someone you actually know, not don't vote for Mark Robinson or Michelle Morrow because they're nuts.

I'm always asking this type of question, then just reviewing indyweek.com as well as peaking at who the Sierra Club is endorsing since Environment issues are high on my list.

I get that and that's where I end up getting most of my stuff but I'm always hoping for she's a mom on my kid's softball team and she's fantastic or I work with that guy and he's a snake type of stuff.

Given the depravity of the GQP, it's a no brainer...vote for the Dem in any race that is on your ballot

This. Assuming you are not full bore MAGA, then no red blooded North Carolinian can believe that a Republican Super Majority in the state house is going to be good for our state.

In election cycles where there is no super-majority in play, I urge you to delve deep and vote for who you consider the best candidate possible. But while the super-majority is in play the only thing that makes any sense at all is to yank all the blue levers for all the State House and Senate races at least.

Gives you more time to dig into city council, county commissioners and judges and such, whose impact can be huge on your life.

So once again, does anyone know personally any of the candidates running either in Wake County or I guess anywhere?

I hear ya, and your point highlights how difficult it is to learn about candidates. Cuz even the "she's fantastic" and "is a snake" can be based on personality rather than policy or effectiveness.

And Sierra club probably doesn't go beyond environmental-only issues, which isn't great. Heck RFK at one point was considered an environment advocate, and now he's said some things leaning toward climate change denial.

I use Oath.vote to donate and they send out alerts for way down ballot candidates who are instrumental in making sure elections are not hijacked by MAGA here's the latest: 1728416892697.png
