Like many pretty reasonable folks out there, I struggle with how to weigh political evidence.
That is, I wish to believe that I assess data with some care.

That is, I wish to believe that I assess data with some care.
On the other hand:
- I live in a state with almost no gun laws, and yet I own no guns. Why?
- Although I have seen slips, I have never seen 20 minutes straignt of FOX news (nor will I ever)
- I am pro-choice, pro- gay rights, and pro-civiil rights. And those commitments define my voting decisions.
- The shooting of Charlie Kirk and the public responses afterwards
- The Robert Kennedy Junior hearings and subsequent discourse
- The FBI Direction hearings and subsequent discourse
- The execution of accused drug runners
I read the news and I conclude that:
- Charlie Kirk was indeed scum. That does not mean that he should have been shot, but it sure as hell does not mean that flags should be lowered. That is insane.
- The efforts to blame this shooting on "liberals" is just evidence of insanity in our public discourse. I won't waste more time on that. If you disagree then you are not worth considering,
- The MAGA folks who wanted to blame "liberals" are idiots. Of course.
- The Director of the FBI is a liar and a clown.
- Robert Kennedy Junior is a liar and a clown
