If not a cyber attack, why was service down?

A phone network having issues and a bunch of people's first thought being "we're being attacked" is strange to me.

It was my first thought when I heard about it. I assumed it was a cyber attack….probably a trial test run.

Between this and all the current events in MN, I’ve been seriously looking into Meshtastic capable devices for at least myself and some immediate family.

If not a cyber attack, why was service down?

It could be a bad software update or a network misconfiguration. We will hopefully know for sure in the next day or two. If you don't hear the cause in a statement from Verizon, lean towards cyber attack.
