Have to get through the severe threat today. Sun is out here which isn't good. Just add feuls to the fire.

Meanwhile, the European model shows this last night. The potential for snow has been showing up on the models around this period for a while

now.

GFS model just showed this for 1/8. Looks like we are getting some agreement from the models that the potential for snow in NC is there.

I look forward to my first crushing disappointment of the year when we get 2 hours of cold rain

Weather History: 1964

But NC got walloped more in January 1965:

And then worse in January 1966, when it snowed at least once a week in Western NC in January, including these two statewide storms at the back end:

My parents talked endlessly about the impact of that snowy winter of ‘66.

GFS model is back to showing a winter storm for NC 1/11-1/12. Models are showing another storm 1/15-1/16. That's way down the road but just shows there is a lot of potential coming up.

Euro run wasn't good. Had the first system for Monday cutting up west of the NC mountains and the second system for next weekend too warm for anything but rain for most of NC.
