Front. I'm right next to the house that burned down a couple years ago. We'd have lost our home as well, probably with me inside it, had it taken any longer than it did for the fire department to show up. As it was, several of our windows cracked from the heat.
I remember when that happened. It looked like the entire house had been engulfed in flames. Burlington’s best in action. I’m glad you didn’t suffer any more damage than you did.

I am eternally grateful to the Burlington fire department.
I know you are. My SIL retired as a captain from the BPD. These civil servants have difficult jobs. My mother was in a wreck about 30 years ago on South Church Street in front of the mall. Her car was flipped upside down. The fire department and the EMT’s did a great job. She was not badly injured. It happened in front of station #4.

Fuck we are fucked.
We being Charlotte or we being Triangle or we being NC?

That map above basically has north Georgia, including Atlanta, getting 2 inches of freezing rain. And I look at my home and think "Oh nice only 0.5" knowing full well that is awful enough

All of the above!

I have never wanted "just" a cold soaking rain so badly in my life.

And when it does it's unexpected

January 2000 they were calling for 2-4 inches of snow... It ended up being over 20

I remember in early 2007 the weatherman the night before a predicted storm was saying “it’s not if we get anything, it’s how much.” So I didn’t study for my statistics test the next day. Woke up and not a single flake, sleet pellet or drop of rain had fallen. Still pissed about that, clearly.

About 25 years ago, Charlotte had snow in the forecast. All the meteorologists seemed to be bullish on this happening. One of my friends and roommates was a producer at a Charlotte news station and he talked to the meteorologist there who told him that this was the one time he was absolutely certain it was going to snow. The question wasn’t if it would snow, but how much. And they were expecting several inches.

There was Panthers game scheduled for the day it was supposed to snow so people were very excited about the prospect of attending a Panthers snow game; something that seemed like a once
-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I had tickets to that game and was very excited.

Well, not only did it not snow that day, but I remember sitting at the Panthers game looking up the the blue sky, seeing barely any clouds, and not having to wear many layers because it was at least 60 degrees.

Wake county schools are prepping take-home materials for "the likely snow days next week". Monday is already a teacher work day. WTF.

WSFCS is sending home three days worth of materials for next week. I think the rule is that if the kids have "mandatory" work to do at home, then the day doesn't have to be made up.
