Welp. speaking of weather. Just got to the airport in Charlotte headed to Chicago tomorrow for work and realized I forgot my winter coat, or a coat of any kind as a matter of fact, and the temp is supposed to be 1° with negative windchills tomorrow morning. Brilliant!

There’s a Bloomingdale’s outlet in Rosemont right outside O’Hare. You needed an excuse to buy a new Barbour or Canada Goose, right?

Yeah, less than the GFS and Canadian, but still a major winter storm. And wouldn't take much for those big totals in Greenville to spread west if the storm is closer to the coast like the GFS and Canadian.

I don't blame them. I still haven't tried to get out of my driveway yet. 1500+ ft of ice with a valley in the middle of a curve between me and the road. My son can get out in his four wheel drive but it's so icy , he doesn't even leave tire tracks. Screw driving in that. I'll try tomorrow afternoon.
 
Winston-Salem/Forsyth County is also remote. Main roads are navigable but there’s still a fair amount of ice on them. I’m sure the more rural parts of the county are an absolute mess so I’m not at all optimistic about next week even if we get a minimal amount of snow.
 
I haven't looked but this has to be heading toward one of the colder Januarys recently. Seems like we've had an extended stretch of colder than normal temperatures.

Find a thrift store. Wear the coat while you are there, then donate it back when you leave.
 
So an Upper Level Low will pass over us-give Central NC an inch or two
Then the energy transfers to a Coastal Low. Even right now the location of that low-and the strength of that low off NC is all over the place
It might be an inch or two more-or 12. Or the "transfer" happens quick and the low is way off the coast and we get zero more
A good estimate by sensible Mets is we get a couple, few more-
