Actually, Wake is usually the last ones in the area to announce they'll close.Wake County schools just closed for 9 days simply for looking at that model run.

Yes, March of 1993.

While the weather in Charlotte is nice right now by the standards of about any other time of year, this is not at all the weather I want to be having right now. I want to be bundled up when I go outside and have the fire on when I get inside. We are in Los Angeles for Christmas and it has been chilly, wet, and stormy. Some flooding and mudslides in the burn areas from last year’s fires. The last two times we’ve returned to LA for Christmas the weather back in Charlotte was far better than here. When we lived in Cleveland coming to LA was a nice break from the cold weather. Not so much anymore!

Yeah…screw this weather! Here in the Charlotte area, it’s just plain miserable…hot as hell.
We just got back from our family walk and I feel like I need a shower. While the weather in Charlotte is nice right now by the standards of about any other time of year, this is not at all the weather I want to be having right now. I was chainsawing Saturday and was stung by a hornet. I know it was an over-wintering queen that I disturbed but still... Not really expected in late DecemberI was out mowing yesterday. In late December.![]()
I saw an article I think last year that said climate change was pushing Tornado Alley further east. Hope things turn out okay.Set a record high of 76 (72 was old high) yesterday here in South Central KY and looking at an expected high of 32 today and a chance of a few flurries. Someone make it make sense.
And as you can imagine, that drastic change came with high winds, rain and warnings of possible tornadoes and hail. Tornadoes have become common place in December here in KY when it never was even a thought a decade or so ago.
