It isn't a forecast. It is a model run. There are hundreds of them. 99% show nothing. Some people like to scour the runs and post the extreme outliers to generate hype.
Yeah OK, same question but substitute "model run" for forecast. Why is anyone trying to model the weather 17 days from now? Seems completely impossible.

Definitely more than that. The snow is going to blow off of the rail.
And hour and a half later, constantly snowing, in an area protected from the wind -- 2.5 inches. South C[h]arlotte.

Haven’t posted here for quite some time, but this snowstorm is a good reason to return.

Anyway, Brad Panovich (meteorologist at WCNC - Charlotte) said earlier this week that the expected wind speeds would make accurate snow measurements difficult to impossible. That said, at 2:15 pm I took 19 measurements here in southern Rowan County in open areas and compiled the following stats: range: 4.5 - 7.5”, average: 6.6”, median: 7”.

We have had near whiteout conditions for the past two hours. An hour ago my daughter took a photo of snow on a patio table at her home in northern Mecklenburg County and it appeared to have approximately 6” of snow.
