This is the Republican Party

its confirmation bias and some sort of self soothing mechanism. you don't like either party but you still identify more with republicans even though you recognize and acknowledge the absurdity of so much of their nonsense. denying that they're as extreme as they are comforts you.

all of the polling says that 2/3 to 3/4 of them still believe that the 2020 election was stolen.

a majority of them do not want trans people to exist or have any rights despite your insistence that its just about sports.

etc. etc. etc. extreme, far right positions are very mainstream in today's republican party. get your head out of your ass, zen.

I don't believe that is true. There are different wordings in the polling that tend to be lumpee together as meaning stolen, but I think there's a difference.

Also, at one point nearly a third of Independents and, what I saw, 5% of Democrats believed the election was stolen, so you can't lay that at the feet of the far right.

I honestly don't know what this means.

I mean, I would be fine if we were able to get rid of any and all abnormalities.

We clearly disagree on what is a far right position, at least as it relates to the election. A significant number of non-Republicans were duped by the lies.

buddy, you have seriously missed the memo.

a majority of republicans are either seriously flirting with the far right or are outright far right.

The GOP I migrated toward MAGA beginning with the infiltration and morphing of Tea Party from a Libertarian group to an "Obama isn't white enough" group. The alt-right (aka alt-white) metastasized and then ate the TP. MAGA rose from the alt-right and anti-Obama/black person in the WHITE House wing. Q-anon was integrated into MAGA (adding a sprinkling of formerly far left conspiracy nuts into the tin foil hat cohort that now controls the GQP and Mini-Mike...who just shut down the House instead of doing their job, which included releasing the Epstein files...

LMAO at you attempting to convince anyone that 1/3 of independents, let alone 5% of dems, which is an absolutely miniscule #, are comparable outcomes to 60-70% of republicans believing the big lie.

and i already gave you this information in the lgbtq thread and you ignored it, but here it is again: Americans have grown more supportive of restrictions for trans people in recent years

only 38% of republicans/lean republicans believe that trans people should be protected from discrimination in jobs, housing and public spaces.

that is a really staggering and disturbing level of prejudice and as i said, goes far beyond simply not wanting trans folks in women's sports. its declaring them subhuman and not worthy of basic rights.

Not comparable, but lots of non-Republicans were duped. As such, I don't see it as a far-right only thing

Nothing in that polling shows Republicans "do not want trans people to exist or have any rights", IMO.

Maybe were looking at different polling. What is it that shows Republicans view trans people as "subhuman" and not supporting "basic rights"?

First of all, link?

Second of all, all this would really mean if true is that there are a lot of people with no formal party affiliation who could accurately be described as "far right" when it comes to what their actual beliefs are. Which is not surprising considering that aver time people have been less likely to affiliate with either party. (Plus, you know, a few kooks on the far left.)
