TONIGHT!! Biorhythms: Exhibition v Winston-Salem State

Agreed as to intensity but not execution.

Seth hits th three, 66-64 5:30 to go

Wilson bobbles the ball and forces a freshman shot that is effectively a turnover, BYU gets fast break basket and a generous foul call for the and 1 opportunity after the under 4 minute time out.

Game tied, BYU to shoot 1.

Nice drive by Veesar, heels up 1

BYU with layup back up 1 - 71-70

Stevenson to the line, bricks first FT. 2:29 to
Go

Ties it on the second ft. 71-71.

UNC timeout 1:41 to go

Exhibition or not these coaches and players are treating it like a conference game.

BYU announcers bemoan their missed threes or they would have a double digit lead.

Nice drive and dish to Veesra, Heels cut it to 1 but give up an easy basket on defense 76-73

76-73, BYU with ball after a missed three by UnC

Dammit. They miss a three, Wilson drives down, misses a challenges layup, BYU to line to salt it away with 22 seconds left

78-73 BYU

Trimble fouled on the three by Dybansta — barely but Heels get three FTs down 5 with 11.9 left.

Seth hits 3 of 3

78-76 BYU. UNC fouls with 9.5 seconds but it’s their best FT shooter. But he misses both

Inbound pass to Trimble on drive, shot blocker disrupts and Seth loses handle trying to go under the rim, BYU wins.

I was surprised to see the freshman Wilson be the inbound passer. We got the shot drawn up but the shot-blocker won the matchup at the rim.

Make or miss, you can always count on Trimble maximizing the degree of difficulty.
Yeah he needed to go into the shot blocker there.

We had a stretch of poor shot choices down the stretch that dug the hole in the waning 2 minutes or so.

But that was an extremely valuable exhibition. Lots to work on but that was an intense game played down to the wire, with engaged coaches.

Overall, a good showing.

We played with a lot of intensity, but it was pretty clearly the first game of the year.

Unless we tighten up, concerns about not having a primary distributor looks to be a real issue.

Sucks to not have Luka out there to see what difference he might have made.

We rebounded well and certainly held our own inside.

Caleb is very much the real deal.

Again, not a bad showing most of the way across the country late on a Friday night.

We had four guys play over 30 minutes in an exhibition. BYU had Dybansta and Wright.

Wright chewed up our defense in the last 3-4 minutes with key drives for buckets and a huge assist on the three.

Both Dybansta and Wilson seemed gassed in the last 5 minutes or so and both faltered some in their decision-making (but not effort) at that point.

Evans was more noticeable by his absence at PG — the offense didn’t run as well without him, but I didn’t really notice him making an impact as much on the floor, either. He struggled against Wright on defense down the stretch.

Veesaar turned up his game in the second half but the difference in the outcome was the huge game inside by Keita for BYU with 16 points and 10 boards. He was stronger and more athletic than Veesaar. Veesaar was no slouch with 14 and 8, and he was more skilled than Keita.

Caleb with 22 points and 10 boards. He had his freshman moments at some key points but the kid is for real.

Stevenson had 9 points, 2 boards, 2 assists but five turnovers (and honestly it felt like more). He drew the short straw guarding Dybansta a lot of the time. He feels like the new Withers — tantalizing talent but a lack of sustained focus.

Heels only shot 4-19 for three (Stevenson was 2-3). We definitely need a perimeter shooter …
