I remember the Family Ties one where Alex's friend died in a drunk driving accident.

Diff’rent Strokes was full of those: the one where the bicycle shop owner tried to molest Arnold and Dudley, the one where Arnold and Kimberly get kidnapped by the guy who attempts to rape Kimberly, and the episode where Sam gets kidnapped by a guy who wants him to replace his deceased son. Those kids went through a lot.
