Danged if they do and danged if they don't.
this is true.

i'm basically just complaining for the sake of it and because this is all seriously inconveniencing my life but if their actions keep more hatteras island residents/visitors safe then they've done the right thing.

they've made some pretty crazy calls over the years as far as late or no evacuations so perhaps they're trying to be on the right side of this. and closing the bridges and disallowing non-resident access for the first 2 months of covid was wild. lots of lawsuits from non-resident property owners.

What can they do? Seriously, I don’t know. The only way in and out is susceptible to just above normal rain and surf … this is consistent practice for them since the early 90s:

what a walk down memory lane! floyd/dennis and isabel were wild. i was just a kid but we didn't have power for almost a week on both of those. the national guard was on the scene checking on people. insane flooding.

irene was also bad and matthew caused a hell of a lot of problems despite not being all that powerful. those 4-5 are the greatest hits (that i can well remember) of my 33ish years as an outer banker.

my sister was born during bob in 1991. my parents seriously considered naming her roberta (also a family name), lmao.
