Your post really drives home the point, but this is nothing new. Congressional Dems have been poor at messaging for many years.

Even savvy Dems like Obama were horrible at messaging.

I remember watching Obama at a press conference after saving the country from the Great Recession and putting us back on track for a sound economy.

Did he brag about his accomplishment ? No
Did he trash GWB for sinking the economy ? No

He made the mistake of saying we are doing better but people are still suffering and we need to do more to improve their lives.

Was the media takeaway from that press conference that Obama had rescued us from economic disaster and had put us on a track to restore a sound economy ( which he did ) ? No the media takeaway was Obama says he needs to do more to help American families.
Seems like a damned-if-you-do situation.

Apparently, voters in ‘24 were pissed at Joe and Kamala for acting as though we’d fully recovered from the pandemic-era economic downturn, and for not acknowledging that more work still needed/needs to be done.

Agreed, but I would add that the rapid decline of traditional mainstream media and the rise of social media has just made this problem worse. If you have older Congressional Democrats who are asking younger colleagues "What is a podcast?" that's a huge problem for a political party in the year 2025 (or 2020 or 2024, really). And it's just going to get worse as we move forward. But yeah, their messaging has been a problem for a long while.

Did Joe and Kamala run on a 2024 campaign that messaged everything was hunky dory and there was nothing left to do ?

My recollection is that Kamala campaigned on issues like:

mortgage assistance for first home buyers
bans on grocery store price gouging
wanting to create what she called an opportunity economy that would help the middle class
passing a middle class tax cut
increasing the child tax credit

I could go on and on ,but I have no recollection that Kamala claimed there was nothing left to do for working and middle class families. That said, I have been day drinking since 7am so my recollection may be clouded in an attempt to go through life ( as we see it now) fat, drunk, and stupid.

Rs had a field day with her claiming that she wouldn’t change a thing about Biden’s economic policies. I recall a long thread in which Paine (and perhaps super and others) decried the fact that she (and Ds in general) seemed disconnected from “kitchen table issues.”

That was a constant thread during the campaign, no? While Trump promised/lied about lowering prices on Day 1, getting us out of wars, and focusing on domestic matters (which included a bunch of xenophobic attacks against immigrants stealing job), Kamala and Biden kinda tracked a different path.

I think the complaints about what Dems were saying had a lot more to do with the left-leaning media (who were defending against the usual Trump claims that the country and economy were in shambles) than it did with what the campaign was actually saying. Kamala absolutely tried to campaign on "kitchen table issues."

I see it as less of winning and losing and more of each side is playing by its own rules. GOP Rules: Continuously throw mud at the wall without regard for whether it is true or not, just to see what will stick. Truth is irrelevant, all that matters is whether the base will embrace it. Democratic Rules: Investigate issues, determine the truth therein, and only advocate for demonstrably true issues. Truth is the solid rock, all else are sinking sands. In regard to the reference to a Christian hymn, there are many ways to describe St. Donald of Mar-a-Lago, but based on his conduct displayed during the entirety of his adult life, St. Donald utterly and completely rejects all of the precepts of Christianity.
Respectfully that is a load of horse shit. What's impressive is that you posted that actually believing it. The lies told by the biden admin (hunter, laptop, mental decline etc.), obama admin (russia, russia, russia, if you like your dr you can keep your dr), and your complicit media, means you have no truth high ground, no "solid rock". Your side lies, cheats, and steals just like my side. There is no moral high ground in politics. If you don't believe that then just bellow bahhhhhhh and get yourself sheered.

So how are they going to spin this when they inevitably do not prosecute any of the people supposedly involved in this? "It was the worst treason in history, but we decided we had more important things to deal with"?
Same way they do with every broken promise - ignore it, deny they said it, and dangle a different set of keys in front of their infantile base.

Why would she want to divorce herself from *checks notes*

The envy of the world

Because people were too GD dumb to realize what they had before it was gone and fell for a con man AGAIN?!

Maybe she should have just lied her ass off.

I don't recall Paine and others claiming that Kamala seemed to be disconnected from "kitchen table issues " but I don't doubt that they may have.

There were many progressives who disparaged Kamala and contributed to her defeat by sitting home or voting for Russian asset loony Jill Stein.

In the end I don't think the price of eggs was motivating Trump voters as much as fear of brown people ( not the best since they were murderers, rapists, drug dealers , gang member terrorists )

I said it before. Magats are edgelords. Trump doesn’t have to bring them to completion. Just talk dirty deep state.

Reviewing Tulsi's rise in politics is like conducting a case study in bipolar disorder. Her trajectory from strong Dem to ultra MAGA is interesting if not peculiar. I wonder what happened that made her turn a 180 in such a small period of time. I mean, she was fully on the Obama/Biden train—until suddenly she wasn't. I find it hard to believe that her politics reversed organically so suddenly. There had to be a moment that turned her. Any ideas?

1. She loves Modi.
2. She loved Assad.
3. Those two are linked by their hatred of Islam. Al-Assad is Alawite, which I suppose is a form of Islam but a) I doubt Gabbard knows or cares about the difference and b) anyway, al-Assad has been enemies with the muslim population around him -- which was how he lost power to the advancing Islamists.

Also there might have been something of a populist convergence, to use a phrase of a departed poster.
