Transparency my shiny white ass. Grand jury transcripts are a small, select portion of evidence presented before the trial in order to secure an indictment. The old joke in the legal community is that a good prosecutor can indict a ham sandwich. They are only a very small fraction of the investigative file itself. More deflection and distraction. They want us to chase the shiny object.

In modern, Age of Trump politics, what matters isn't experience or qualifications or credentials or even proven ability in government service. What matters is being a celebrity on television and having the ability to troll liberals on social media and, to paraphrase North Carolina's state motto, to seem rather than to actually be. Appearances matter more than substance, fantasy and myth and wishful thinking more than reality, and things like character and ethics and morality and competency and experience don't matter at all.

The Right thinks Democrats are communists, Marxists, and socialists……..no, worse than that…..godless communists, Marxists, and socialists.

They think people CHOOSE to be gay/lesbian/trans…….

They think Liberals want to shutter and close their churches.

The Right has been taught for decades that “The Left” wants to turn their children into fags and dykes and queers….

They’ve been taught for decades that The Left is anti-American, anti-Christian, and anti-freedom…..and, freedom means making others adhere to The “Christian Nationalist” version of Christianity.

The Right’s (that’s the GOP, MAGA, Tea Party, Libertarians, Trumplicans) hatred of Democrats is based on their education and information they’ve gleaned and/or been exposed to. It’s not based in reality; it is based on what they’ve been taught and/or gravitated to.

Spent time in New Delhi, India, the Barrios of Bogotà, Colombia and several weeks in Turkey… Mexico, Costa Rica, etc. Not that all of those places are “developing”.

But that’s not what I’m talking about. I mean the countries of which Trump wants their favor. Europe, Canada, Australia, Scandinavia, etc. The so-called “developed countries” are, and have been laughing at us for decades, but now they’re feeling sad for us. It’s that bad.

The other places in the World? Trump refers to them as shit-hole countries, so no, I’m not talking about those places. Of course the U.S. looks like greener pastures in their regard. Apples/oranges.

I respectfully disagree...

Historically, the free world respected our country ( before Trump 1 and 2 ) and counted on our leadership when it came to geopolitics.

I'm not sure ( but suspect ) if we are a "laughing stock " in the free world but I'm guessing it's a " what the fuck ? "

I don't think it is unimportant or not meaningful that the free world no longer sees us as the leader of the free world.
