Trump loses sexual offense appeal.

Everyone knows that Trump groped women in the past. A jury found that he did so. I'm not defending that behavior but he's far from the only politician or powerful man that has done so. I choose to take a broader view of Trump in that he's the most impactful President of the US since Reagan - maybe FDR and I agree with most of his policies. There's no evidence that he's a pedo. I will reiterate that there's a 100% certainty that the Biden Administration and/or the Deep State would have leaked ANY negative information on Trump that was in the Epstein files given the lengths taken to bring down the man. You can't make the jump from Trump groping grown women to his being a pedo. The stupid comment he made about Ivanka on Stern years ago is more reflective of the fact that Trump has a big mouth, liked to please Stern as a frequent guest and has NO FILTER vs. evidence of his being a pedo.

Dershowitz says he's seen the files as part of being involved in Epstein litigation and confirms there's nothing negative about Trump but can't speak further since he's bound by a confidentiality order.

Can we put down our partisan swords for one second to discuss the Epstein file? I'm in favor of releasing the full report but I acknowledge that there's a ton I don't know and I'm not privy to the big picture. My guess is that Trump was in favor of releasing the report otherwise there's no way Bondi announces in February that it's on her desk ready for release. Trump likes to please his base and MAGA wants to see it and is angry Trump won't release it. My guess is that Ratcliffe and the national security team convinced him that releasing the report would be harmful to the US. It's no secret that Epstein was likely working with the CIA and Mossad and the report likely has dirt on foreign leaders. Thus, it may not be in the US's interest to release sensitive material on foreign leaders. Also, there' s no question very powerful men may be implicated - Bill Gates, Clinton in particular. It may also be in the national interest not to soil the reputation of a past President. I'm not saying I agree but I can understand the argument.

Finally, don't connect any of Trump's conduct to my personal life or beliefs. If Trump or anyone groped, raped or harmed my daughter I'd kill them and accept the consequences.

Hell no we can’t “put down the partisan swords.” First of all, that is hilariously ironic coming from you, of all people- and especially in the same post where you unironically discuss “the Deep State” of the Biden administration. Second, you “put down the partisan swords” when discussing policy differences on immigration, tax, spending, etc. You don’t “put down the partisan swords” when it comes to handwaving away or outright defending sexual deviance. That’s not a policy difference- that’s a humanity difference. You are literally defending the behavior of a guy who: 1. boasted about banging his teenage daughter (I don’t give a damn who you think he was trying to impress or amuse, it’s disgusting and it’s completely disqualifying), 2. Bragged about walking in on naked teenagers in the changing room at beauty pageants, 3. Was demonstrably as thick as thieves with the most prominent child sex trafficker of our time, and 4. Has already been found liable by juries of his peers many times over for being a sexual deviant. How is anyone supposed to “put down partisan swords” with you on that? Moreover, how is anyone supposed to take anything you say seriously when you arrive at the conclusion that the guy who did all of the above- and then some- somehow, someway miraculously stopped juuuuuuuust short of outright sexual exploitation of a minor. That’s like saying that the guy with melted chocolate all over his face and hands, and an empty cookie jar in the kitchen with nobody else in the house, didn’t eat the cookies. Laughable.

It’s also deliciously funny that you think that the fact that there may be national security implications in the release of the Epstein files would be some red line for the Trump administration. You think the same folks who were guilty of the theft, impermissible storage (in a fucking resort bathroom), and refusal to return of some of our most sensitive, top secret, most highly classified intelligence- you think *those* folks all of a sudden have some deep burning desire to protect national security? And if – which is a massive if – but if there were some national security implications that would compromise previous or current intelligence operations, it’s almost like we have the ability to do this thing called “redactions.” I know, it’s a crazy concept, but just work with me on it.

Anyone who graduates from law school and practices law for as long as you have is at least baseline intelligent enough to know that if someone brags for years that they are going to release some files, and if in fact they run a campaign on doing so, and then as soon as that person is in power with the authority and ability to do so, then all of a sudden clams up and refuses to release the files, and not only that but his administration gets caught in such a terrible lie (that the files never actually existed in the first place) about it that my three year-old son would be embarrassed…. you know exactly how this looks, and you know it looks terrible for your guy as being implicated at the highest level.

You think Donald Trump all of a sudden cares about Bill Clinton‘s legacy? Do you think Donald Trump all of a sudden cares about protecting Bill Gates? How stupid do you think we are?

I’m happy to put down partisan swords if you want to talk about the merits and demerits of our immigration policy or our tax policy or whatever else. I’m not putting down any swords for someone who defends someone’s sexual deviance against minors on partisan grounds, and especially not someone who uses embarrassingly poor logic to do so.

As I said to you the other day, I don’t give a flying fig Newton which Democrats are implicated. Throw every single last one of them under the jail, let them rot, then let the jail rot, then build a new jail and let it rot. Why can’t you say the same about Trump? That’s a rhetorical question, by the way. I also said that I think the Biden administration absolutely, positively sucks for not releasing the files. Why won’t you say the same about the Trump administration? Again, rhetorical.

My whole thing on Trump is not that I hate him because I hate his policies. I do, in fact, hate a good majority of his policies, but I don’t hate him because of policy disagreement. Policy disagreements can be fixed because poor policies can be undone, first starting at the ballot box.

The reason that I hate Trump – the root cause of my TDS, if you will- has zero to do with policy disagreement and everything to do with I think he is a despicable, repugnant person completely devoid of any redeeming positive character attributes, and I think that he has given permission to a whole lot of people – including a whole lot of people whom I care about and love – to be the worst versions of themselves. That’s not something that can be undone like bad policy. It can’t be fixed at the ballot box. So that’s why I hate Trump – not because I disagree with him on policy, but because I think it’s disgusting that we elected a serial sexual deviant who has never told the truth in any single breath in his entire life (aside from his quip about shooting someone on fifth Ave., I guess) and who gives everyone permission to be a repugnant version of themselves. Trump is literally the walking embodiment of every single solitary awful human character trait or vice in existence. I find it to be deplorable that we elected him to the most powerful and most important job in the universe.

I don't "hate" Trump to the extent that I don't hate anyone.

I have, however, had the same opinion of him for 30+ years. It is indisputable that he has always been egomaniacal, chronically deceitful, petulant, and a bully. He's always been that. Politics didn't blind me to that. If he was the democratic party nominee, I would vote for the republican nominee. He is that awful of a human and has consistently shown that.

People like Ram, including some of the people I love most dearly in this world, are either purposely ignoring his authoritarian 2nd term, or cheering it on. Either way, our country is going down a dark path that I shudder to think that my children will have to live through or fight to bring back. It's depressing to even think about. But hey, at least MAGA get to take selfies at the Alligator Auschwitz sign.

Yes.
My dad asked me once why I didn’t like Trump and I told my dad it was because he raised me to hold such people in disdain.

Here is a great example. If you support someone who says shit like this over and over and over and over and over and over and over, I have no choice but to hope you choke on your next meal. It’s quite literally impossible to find common ground with someone who supports this. This is not a policy disagreement – it’s a humanity disagreement. I am more than thrilled to work to find common ground with people on policy. I’m not going to budge an inch on decency, humanity, or honesty.

Thank you for your attention to this matter!

lol Dersh is a pedo. He's lying (what else is new?).

So, at best we're at "everybody does it (sexually abusing women)."

There's no question the information would be incriminating for Trump, Bill Clinton, Dersh, Prince Andrew, Bill Gates, Stephen Hawking, and a host of politicians and celebrities of all stripes.

Rammy: "Finally, don't connect any of Trump's conduct to my personal life or beliefs. If Trump or anyone groped, raped or harmed my daughter I'd kill them and accept the consequences."

This is one of the most revealing quotes by Trumpers I've seen in awhile, although I've heard variations of it many times before. I honestly don't see how you can call yourself a Christian (as so many of his supporters do) and then claim that Trump's actions and words and deeds have no relevance to your Christian beliefs or the teachings of Jesus. To admit that if anyone groped or raped your daughter "you'd kill them" but in the same sentence state that you don't care what Trump did to other women reveals a level of self-centeredness, selfishness, and lack of compassion for others that pretty much says it all about the mindset and values and worldview of Trumpers and MAGA Nation, no matter how much they deny it.

What I've heard over and over from many Trump voters I know since his first term started is basically some variation of "I don't really care what he does in his private life or how he treats people or whatever, all I care about is that my family is doing OK and the economy is good and that's all that matters to me." That these same people go to church on Sundays and call themselves followers of Christ and his teachings betrays a level of cognitive dissonance that is staggering, no matter how it is explained. They sit in church and claim to read the Bible, but those red-colored verses that are the words of Jesus just never quite seem to sink in.

And even if you're not a Christian, to say that if a man abused or raped your daughter you'd exact immediate justice, but as long as that man is doing something you like and support you don't really care what he's doing to other men's daughters and wives, or that he's doing terrible things to other groups of people and individuals, betrays a lack of sympathy and compassion for others that is, at a bare minimum, very disturbing.

well said. they're all just wildly selfish assholes, frankly. galbraith nailed it.

we see it all over the FAFO thread. "i wanted these shitty things to happen to people who i don't know, not me/my friends/my family!"

Also, they will say, well if it’s Trump versus Kamala, I am going to vote for Trump for political reasons.
But this doesn’t explain why Trump wins the Republican primaries with 94% of the vote. They fucking loooooove Trump.
It isn’t a matter of choosing the lesser of two evils. They want Trump to be their ruler forever. Nobody is holding their nose and voting for Trump.
