Will never, ever not crack me up that the massive political party realignment in our country is that it is now **conservatives** who are the ones begging and pleading for Big Daddy Government to step into literally every area of their lives. Monitor my wife and daughters’ periods, Daddy! Regulate my personal medical decisions and my marriage choice and my recreational sex, Daddy! Ban books that I don’t agree with, Daddy! Ban my Chips Ahoy and my Doritos and my Mountain Dew, Daddy! Govern me harder, Daddy!

What happened to the “small government, less regulation, and individual freedom and liberty” conservatives!? Did your balls just drop off?

We’ve come a long way since Mike Bloomberg’s much maligned soda ban.

“… Even some Senate Republicans expressed doubts.

“He’s got his work cut out for him,” Senator Joni Ernst, an Iowa Republican who was believed to have been on Mr. Trump’s short list for the defense secretary job, said of Mr. Hegseth on Wednesday.

[Ernst won’t buck Trump]

… Senator Todd Young, Republican of Indiana, said he was excited about many of Mr. Trump’s nominees. But when it came to Mr. Hegseth, he said, “I don’t know much about his background or vision.”

[So that’s a yes]

During a recent podcast interview, Mr. Hegseth said that Gen. Charles Q. Brown Jr., the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the senior military adviser to the president, should be fired for being too “woke.” He has also said that “we should not have women in combat roles.”

Mr. Hegseth, one senior Pentagon official said on Thursday, has instead sought to project the image of the Jack Nicholson character in the film “A Few Good Men,” who dramatically proclaims: “You want me on that wall.” …”

So basically we're making a waterboy the athletic director. Cool. Keep on sticking it to the libs, pubs! That leopard's gonna be well fed over the next four years.

Imagine one day having to get common vaccines for our children on the black market. It's gonna so cool, pubs!
Way to own those libs!

BS seems to essentially be Twitter from 2019. As for handing it to Musk, I’m not sure how much choice he really had. It was a public company at the time.
Twitter didn't have to accept Musk's bid at that price or any price. Basically, even public companies in Delaware have the ability to "just say no" to any takeover attempts. Musk would have had to go to the shareholders to oust the board that didn't want to sell, and he wasn't going to do that.

The reason they sold Twitter to Musk is that they had been trying to sell Twitter for a year, because the board couldn't figure out how to monetize its reach effectively. It was far smaller than other social media, less profitable, and the board was kind out of ideas.

Steven Chueng really fascinates me. The thing about him -- he's exactly the guy you'd want if your goal to project fascism. But Trump and the GOP have been vehemently denying that they are fascists (GOP more than Trump). Of course that's what would-be fascists would say. So why have this guy as the comms director? Is this the new dog whistle?

the White House is going to give McGarrett and Dan-o fits with that choice.

Also Musk offered WAY more than what the selling price ought to be because he is a genius or something. It was kind of their duty to the share holders to accept that deal, if you see the world through the pure capitalism lens.

It's just perfect for the Dems. Chueng exemplifies everything that non-hardcore MAGAs detest about MAGA. I literally can't wait to hear Tommy Tuberville spin his "Christian values" schtick while Chueng is calling Kristen Welker a fucking cuntless bitch on live television.

I don't think Cheung will move the needle for anyone at all. We are all going to get plenty of shit of stuff we detest about MAGA. Only political nerds pay attention to the press secretary or comms director.

House Speaker Mike Johnson said on Friday that he does not think a House Ethics Committee report on allegations related to Matt Gaetz should be released and is “going to strongly request that the Ethics Committee not issue the report.”

Johnson called on the ethics panel to withhold the report shortly after returning from visiting with President-elect Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago on Thursday, and said he plans to speak with the panel’s chairman, GOP Rep. Michael Guest. Gaetz, who resigned from Congress this week after Trump announced his intent to nominate him to serve as attorney general, has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.

“I’m going to strongly request that the Ethics Committee not issue the report because that is not the way we do things in the House, and I think that would be a terrible precedent to set,” Johnson told reporters on Friday. The comments are a significant move by the House GOP leader to push to block the release of a report from a probe that is supposed to be separate from the speaker’s office.

Pressed about whether the public had the right to more information about the allegations now that Trump has picked Gaetz to serve as his attorney general, Johnson responded, “The rules of the House have always been that a former member is beyond the jurisdiction of the ethics committee, and so I don’t think that’s relevant.”

Maybe the report says that they found out Mike Johnson and his son watched porn videos together of Matt Gaetz banging underage girls?

It is entirely unclear why the jurisdiction of the ethics committee matters. They can't discipline Gaetz, but releasing the report doesn't require jurisdiction.

That said, I do wonder if this isn't a sabotage effort by Johnson, who undoubtedly loathes Gaetz. Everything in the report is already widely known. At this point, the primary value of the report might be to give some mitigation for Gaetz, to suggest that the evidence isn't all that compelling, etc.

Maybe I'm thinking too hard about this, but I just don't see why keeping a report under wraps that a) is almost certainly going to leak and b) addresses largely public knowledge is helpful to Gaetz.

If the Sec of Education isn’t Lauren Boebert, I’m gonna be sorely disappointed. There’s no other option than to appoint someone who failed out of high school and only got a GED so that she could run for Congress.
And I'm going to be as equally disappointed if Catturd doesn't get the Press Secretary gig.

Btw, does anyone know if Catturd is still active on X or Truth? Can't remember the last time I saw a post or repost of his that NYCfan shared here or at IC.
