U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Sunday warned Panama's President Jose Raul Mulino that Washington will "take measures necessary" if Panama does not immediately take steps to end what President Donald Trump sees as China's influence and control over the Panama Canal.
Mulino, after the talks with the top U.S. diplomat in Panama City, signaled he would review agreements involving China and Chinese businesses, and announced further cooperation with the U.S. on migration, but reiterated that his country's sovereignty over the world's second busiest waterway is not up for discussion.

Rubio delivered a message from Trump that China's presence - through a Hong-Kong based company operating two ports near the canal's entrances - was a threat to the waterway and a violation of the U.S.-Panama treaty, the U.S. State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said in a statement.
"Secretary Rubio made clear that this status quo is unacceptable and that absent immediate changes, it would require the United States to take measures necessary to protect its rights under the Treaty," Bruce said.

Rubio did not spell out exactly what steps Panama must take or what U.S. retaliation would look like.

I am guessing the GOP is keeping their mouth shut so when the arrests happen, they aren't locked up like the Democratic Senators will.

We are about 2-3 steps away from that at this point. Trump and Elon know they have already seized control of the country where it matters.

That may be right. But that just means they’d be standing there with their mouths shut while I’m yelling at them about what pathetic sell-out stooges they are.

I hesitate to say this because it sounds kraykray. but for that reason, as well as what he is doing with the government, I have serious doubts that Musk survives the next 4 years. While I don't believe Trump has the cajónes to order Musk's disappearance, he is certainly capable of having a 'will no one rid me of this meddlesome priest' moment. There are numerous people around Trump who will act on that utterance. If Musk permanently disappears at any point in the next few years, there will be a decent probability that someone in Trumps orbit engineered it.
 
Chinese companies operate 129 ports around the world (including some Bahamas and Mexico).

Heard the Panamanian president's declaration after th meeting. Very sensible but firm that China does not control the canal.

I'm thinking something to do with mail-in ballots. GOP figured that Dems cheated with mail-in ballots in '24 so they went ahead and did something with mail-in ballots this time. Had read at some point that there was a decent amount of ballots that only had votes for presidential race. Would love to see a breakdown to disprove this theory.

I don't think this is a realistic theory at all. Were they fucking with mail-in ballots in New York, where they had no chance to win?

This sort of conspiracy thinking should be above us. I know I said that about your migrants-as-warfare theory that turned out to have more going for it than it might have first appeared, but this one is pretty far-fetched.
 
I don't think they cheated outright by manipulating voting machines or anything else, and as yet there is no evidence to support the claim that they did. However, I would bet my entire portfolio on Roger Stone and Steve Bannon having some kind of backup plan fuckery in place similar to the 2020 "stop the steal" bullshit in case Harris won. Imagine their delight to realize that they would never have to use it.

He is just out there posting wild claims and using his (likely unlawful) seizure of government computer systems, with everyone else locked out, to claim support these conspiracy theories
 
Musk and Mike Flynn (!!!!!!) are shutting down payments to Lutheran Family Services. In North Carolina, LFS handles a lot of foster care. LFS is the largest employer in South Dakota, including assisted living facilities.
