I'm legitimately curious. I truly think I get a piece of mail I care about about once every other month and that is a mail order prescription. There are brick and mortar alternatives, And I think I could easily go without mail service for weeks and possibly several months. I'd probably prefer it as my garbage cans would be less full of junk mail.

But I get Amazon packages from Amazon, UPS, FedEx and even the US postal service several times a week. I live in the Raleigh-Durham area. Is the lack of a postal service in Canada an issue just for the rural folks? If you are having an issue yourself, how close are you to a population center of say 50,000 people or more? What types of postal delivery are you lacking?

But the key may be that this is one of the few things that Musk/Ramaswamy can actually get done fairly easily.

To the extent it’s debated, Businesses have usually indicated a preference to make Daylight Saving Time permanent (to have more daylight after school and work hours), BTW.

They should do this.

In a 24/7 world, this practice cost us billions in programming cost alone. There are also studies that show an increase in medical needs on the day we spring forward and lose an hour sleep.

It's a stupid idea and should go away.

I could have sworn that I read that the postal service is actually doing much better financially, utilizing last mile delivery for most of the major carriers, since they have a monopoly on mail boxes that those carriers cannot utilize.

Of course, I'm sure all the people in very rural areas are going to love this.

Not sure which way I fall on this topic.

Speaking of subsidies, our government shouldn't subsidize religious organizations or trumps properties either.

Don’t forget the people who get prescription medicine delivered via the US Mail. Likely elderly, rural, and white…..you know, Trump voters.

Not to mention that Gilded Age business tycoons often treated their workers like shit because there were no legal restraints on them not to do so, and so many workers tried to organize labor unions to strike for better pay, working conditions, etc. And many of these strikes were violently opposed by the company owners and aided by the state and federal governments. Hundreds of workers were killed in violent strikes in that era - The National Railroad Strike of 1877, the Chicago Haymarket Square Riot, the Pullman Strike, the Homestead Strike, and so on. Ugly stuff, and it certainly wasn't a paradise for many, or even most, workers.

Also, instead of the capitalist idea of corporate competition, many companies formed monopolies which allowed for crappy products and high prices - farmers were routinely the victims of price gouging by railroad companies to move their products to market, for example. It may have been great for the wealthiest upper class, but it sure as hell wasn't all that great for the working class. But of course as we all know that's not who Trump is talking about - he's talking about himself and his buddies like Elon and that LA Times owner.

I’m assuming the creation of a sympathetic public profile is the strategy to decrease the chance of deportation. Not sure I agree in this case, but history is rife with examples of the nameless and faceless summarily and disproportionately facing cruelty. Jaime is no longer nameless and faceless.

This admin is going to enact cruelty upon Americans, in manners unprecedented in modern times, that said, ttump is also obsessed with his public perception. If a sympathetic DACA recipient, in a HEAVILY maga territory, in a family with a maga father-figure, gets targeted, there’s real risk to ttump. I don’t think the risk is particularly high, but ttump is as vain, venal, and capricious as they get; I don’t think Jaime’s gambit is irrational.

The same MSNBC that had its two biggest stars - Joe & Mika - see Trump after the election for a preemptive surrender? The same MSNBC that Elon has offered to buy and turn into a Trump-loving network? At this point it's delusional not to see that more and more of the legacy media has steadily moved to the right.
