It's fascinating from a human behavior standpoint. Right-wing media has convinced MAGA (and the MAGA-curious) that applying a double standard is a perfectly reasonable position. Laura Ingraham: Lebron James, Colin Kapernick, Taylor Swift - shut up and dribble/stand/sing and know your place. But when she has Aaron Rogers or Drew Brees on? You're so brave for using your platform to stand up for your beliefs. WTF do you do with that?

It really is fascinating to see the cognitive dissonance. It’s why I think all of these breathless self-flagellation pieces by folks on the left wondering how we should reach Trump voters are, in my opinion, misguided. We don’t need to reach the Trump voters- we *can’t* reach Trump voters. There is no “reaching” people who simply adamantly refused to live and participate in reality. You can’t reach people who believe the stuff that Trump voters believe. We need to figure out how to reach the Democratically-inclined voters who, yet again, sat out an election- that’s where we lost. Trump is going to end up with around 5 million fewer votes than Joe Biden won in 2020, so it’s not like there was some massive influx of new Trump support. We lost because Kamala Harris is going to wind up with somewhere between 5-6 million fewer votes than Biden won- we lost Democratically-inclined voters who did not bother to show up.

I have a hunch that Vance is going to be treated as little more than a gofer and whipping boy for Dear Leader. Trump didn't seem to care for Pence from the beginning, and I doubt that he'll treat Vance much better, no matter how much Vance brown noses him and kisses his ass. Of course if Trump dies in his second term then Vance will become POTUS, which may be what he's hoping for.

The question occurred to me today, after again thinking about the round of revenge prosecutions that are being lined up:
At what point does John Roberts realize he was duped by the most obvious con man in history? I mean, obviously Roberts wanted to protect Trump at all costs, but "we need to give Trump immunity to prevent cycles of revenge prosecutions" is now one of the stupidest, most dangerous, most catastrophically un-cabinable, most anti-constitutional holding in the history of the Supreme Court. Roberts will go down in history with Taney as the worst and least competent Chief Justices of all time, and all to protect the orange man. Oh, the leopards are full indeed.

No way Trump lets a guy who’s so much younger, smarter, more articulate, and most likely a bit more ethically and morally inclined than he get a minute more camera time than necessary.
The press corps may need to camp out at the Naval Observatory for proof of life.
