LOL. Putin isn't going to be satisfied with treating Trump like an equal, because he almost certainly sees him as a useful stooge, not an equal, and I doubt that he fears Trump at all. Putin has been pushing to enlarge Russia's sphere of influence for years, mainly by rebuilding the old Soviet Empire as much as possible (hence the attack on Ukraine), and by undermining Western democracies via internet troll farms and playing up the political, cultural, and ethnic divisions within various nations that are major rivals of the Russians. And while his success in reassembling the old Soviet Union has been mixed at best thus far, he's been far more successful in the second goal, imo. But I certainly doubt he's going to treat Trump as anything other than the easily manipulated clown and stooge he no doubt privately thinks he is.

And fucking bizarre. Tim Walz’s weird thing was one of the best lines of attack against these freaks. Glad he was told to abandon it by centrist campaign staffers and consultants. Really worked out.
Totally agree. And you could tell that it was really getting under their skin, mainly because it's simply true. But Democrats quietly stopped using that line after about a month or so. Just a dumb move by the Harris campaign managers, if true.

One might say weird?

“… It is unclear what spurred Trump’s invective about the canal. While China has increased its presence in Latin America over the last two decades — and a Hong Kong-based company administers the two ports on each end of the canal — no Chinese commercial or government entity actually has any direct role in managing the flow of vessels through the critical waterway.

The canal is administered by an independent Panamanian government agency, the Panama Canal Authority, and China has made no public gestures towards buying the canal or increasing its footprint in the country in recent months.

… Meanwhile, Panama recently elected José Raúl Mulino as president. Mulino has pledged to bring Panama closer to the United States. …”
