When you put people in government who believe stuff like that - and many of the members of the military also believe it - you get the conditions that can create things like this:

There are probably many things that our military/leadership has done that, by today's standards, seem unacceptable. Using nukes, as we did on Japan, being one of them. Even our local law enforcement behaves much, much differently than it would have 50 years ago. I don't think we'll ever know what truly happened at Kent State, and why some of the guardsmen opened fire, but I also believe it's an exception that proves the rule.
Obviously, I could be wrong, but I really don't see even Hegseth, even if ordered by Trump, using the military on US citizens.
