In 1984, the Reagan Campaign started playing “Born in the USA” at its rallies and events.

Springsteen told them to stop or he’d sue.

The Reagan Campaign asked if it could purchase the rights to play the song.

Springsteen commented, “No. Also, have you listened to the lyrics?”

Reagan had already been referencing this great, young, patriotic musician from New Jersey in his speeches…..Springsteen asked that they stop that as well.

John Mellencamp has forced three separate Republican Presidential candidates to stop using "Pink Houses" while also telling them to actually listen to the lyrics.

The prominent US marketing professor Scott Galloway says Elon Musk’s decision to implement brutal job and spending cuts within the federal government on behalf of the Trump administration was “one of the greatest brand destructions” ever.

Speaking on Friday’s episode of the popular Pivot podcast, which he co-hosts, Galloway said Trump’s billionaire businessman adviser alienated the customer base of his electrical vehicle manufacturer Tesla – one of his most important holdings – while aligning himself with a president whose allies aren’t interested in the kinds of cars the company makes.

Galloway then cited polling which suggested Tesla had fallen from the eighth-most reputable brand in 2021 to 95th.

“He’s alienated the wrong people,” Galloway remarked. “Three-quarters of Republicans would never consider buying an EV. So he’s cozied up to the people who aren’t interested in EVs.”

Galloway also rattled off figures maintaining that Tesla’s sales were down 59% in France, 81% in Sweden, 74% in the Netherlands, 66% in Denmark, 50% in Switzerland and 33% in Portugal.

It was pretty obvious this was going to happen and he had to know it. He's just too rich to really care about anything.

“… Musk had learned just before Trump’s mid-May tour of three Gulf countries that OpenAI Chief Executive Sam Altman was going to be on the trip and that a deal in the U.A.E. was in the works, and grew angry about it, according to White House officials. He then said he would also join the trip, and appeared alongside the president in Saudi Arabia.

After Musk’s complaints, Trump and U.S. officials reviewed the deal terms and decided to move forward.

The White House officials said Musk didn’t want a deal that seemed to benefit Altman.

Aides discussed how to best calm Musk down, one of the officials said, because Trump and David Sacks, the president’s AI and crypto adviser, wanted to announce the deal before the end of the president’s trip to the Middle East. …”

A Disillusioned Musk, Distanced From Trump, Says He’s Exiting Washington

The billionaire has made clear he is frustrated with the obstacles he encountered as he tried to upend the federal bureaucracy.

“… Mr. Musk, who once called himself the president’s “first buddy,” is now operating with some distance from Mr. Trump as he says he is ending his government work to spend more time on his companies. Mr. Musk remains on good terms with Mr. Trump, according to White House officials. But he has also made it clear that he is disillusioned with Washington and frustrated with the obstacles he encountered as he upended the federal bureaucracy, raising questions about the strength of the alliance between the president and the world’s richest man….”

Tesla has begun accepting Cybertruck trade-ins for the first time, revealing a stark depreciation in value for the electric truck.

After a year of refusing trade-ins, the EV giant began providing estimates to Cybertruck owners for used vehicles, offering just $65,000 for a $100,000 truck bought in 2024 with 10,000 kilometres (6,000 miles) on the odometer.

This 35 per cent markdown on a year-old truck, which was shared by an owner on the Cybertruck Owners Club, is how much value the average pickup truck would typically lose after five years.

The drop in value comes despite Tesla boss Elon Musk claiming in 2019 that his vehicles would only grow in value.

“Buying a car today is an investment into the future,” he said on the Lex Fridman Podcast. “I think the most profound thing is that if you buy a Tesla today, I believe you are buying an appreciating asset – not a depreciating asset.”

Electric vehicle news site Electrek, who first reported the trade-in offers, described the devaluation as “insane”, and confirmation that the Cybertruck has been “a commercial flop”.

The low trade-in value appears to reflect a glut in supply of the pentagonal vehicle, with Tesla’s Cybertruck inventory reportedly reaching a record high of 10,000 units this month.

Data from Tesla-info.com, which tracks listings in the US, suggests Tesla has around $800 million worth of unsold Cybertrucks.
Cars will appreciate in value? Is this guy an idiot or a liar?
