Fox News host who never made it past the rank of major for SecDef is totally fine, but this is a bridge too far, huh?

Are you starting to doubt at all the wisdom of handing the reins back to Trump? Trump is picking people everyone knows ins unqualified to test the senate's loyalty to him. Republican House members are literally saying things like "if Donald Trump tells us to jump three feet in the air and scratch our heads, we should do exactly what he says." Do you think demanding and trying to enforce personal loyalty to the President over loyalty to the country is a good thing? Trump is going to do that at every level of the government - his cabinet, Congress, and every person who works in any significant role in a government agency.

Also, is he selling out his slim House majority with these appointments? This is the third person he is plucking out of the House, though I am certain the Speaker will support confirmation of Gaetz just to get that idiot out of his hair.

No, not at all. I think Trumps previous selections are all solid. This one is too far for the reasons that are being articulated. I think this pick is just to trigger the media and the Deep State. It will be withdrawn next year when it becomes apparent that Gaetz lacks the votes for confirmation. It may even be a strategic selection, with Gaetz serving as a sacrificial lamb appointment with the Dems gaining a much desire scalp.

lol what do you see as the purpose of using a cabinet appointment to "trigger the media and the Deep State"? You don't actually want Republicans to govern huh?

Feel free to make a case for why Hegseth is qualified to be SecDef. Tell me how it makes sense to put someone who never ranked higher than Major, and was never responsible for more than a few hundred men at most, in charge of the entire US military?
