I don’t think so. Look at Fla and Texas. New folks moving down are seeking economic freedom.
I've already patented the idea of establishing 100k liberal communes in all the small red states. Once my plan is deployed, Democrats will hold a filibuster proof senate and 350 electoral college votes.

Flurry of appointments announced tonight.

Gotta and Wong … yikes. 😬

Makary is a frequent Fox News guest, her husband immunity proponent and a vaccine skeptic.

EDIT - is it an omen that spell check changes his name to “Malady”?

Meanwhile, Weldon was a promoter of the debunked link between vaccines and autism.

Weldon is a self-described “Christian Conservative” rose to some prominence while in Congress by condemning the husband’s desire to let Terri Schiavo be removed from life support (she was brain dead but her parents wanted to keep her on life support indefinitely). He tried to personally intervene as a member of Congress (offered to review her medical records etc.).

He is an opponent of reproductive rights who tried to restrict abortion while in Congress. He retired from the House in 2008, returned to private practice (as far as I can tell he is an GP) and I guess got the politics bug again. He lost a primary (35% - 65%) to be the GOP nomination for the Senate in Florida in 2012. He lost a primary (35% - 65%) for the Florida state house this year.

His credentials are very weak for the job of running the CDC.

She seems to have promoted zinc as an alternative treatment for COVID and claimed N95 masks expose you to toxins. And she is a supplement hawker.

That said as far as I can tell she does not seem to be anti-vax, so maybe she is going to use her post to promote supplements and the power of prayer but not discourage vaccination(?)

Scott Bessent is a hedge fund guy and a pretty normal GOP nominee for Treasury, TBH.

Will be interested to see the MAGA reaction to him as he is a gay man and a Soros protege (though a conservative one). WSJ will be pleased, I assume.

I mean I don’t actually think she was trying to make the dog into a coat or anything but what a weird story.

It does sound like she treated the dog well but it also seems like she would have returned the dog to its original owners when they contacted her. I don’t think the story is disqualifying or anything — it’s not like she shot the dog dead in a pit out back. She fought (against Hurricane Katrina victims) to keep it.

“… Vought’s perch at the top of the Office of Management and Budget would give him outsize influence over slashing regulations and spending, which was one of the core goals pursued by the authors of Project 2025. He would also likely work closely with Elon Musk, who has made deregulation a central focus of his new role co-leading a new entity called the Department of Government Efficiency.

Vought and Musk have both argued that the White House has the power to limit spending without congressional approval, something that could be tested in the courts.

The Vought hire, along with other picks for the administration, contrasted with the staffing for the transition effort, when officials sought to keep those involved with the Heritage Foundation-run group out of the process.

During his campaign, Trump repeatedly denied any association with Project 2025, a 900-page policy blueprint for the federal government, as Democrats turned it into a political liability for his White House bid. Vice President Kamala Harris and others cast it as a radical plan to overhaul the government. But even before he won, some people close to Trump privately said they expected Project 2025-affiliated people to be hired in a second Trump administration. …”

Trump plans to fire Jack Smith’s team, use DOJ to probe 2020 election

The plans show how president-elect Donald Trump wants to use the Justice Department to address his own personal grievances

President-elect Donald Trump plans to fire the entire team that worked with special counsel Jack Smith to pursue two federal prosecutions against the former president, including career attorneys typically protected from political retribution, according to two individuals close to Trump’s transition.https://www.washingtonpost.com/newsletters/fact-checker/?itid=lk_cta_ssinline

Trump is also planning to assemble investigative teams within the Justice Department to hunt for evidence in battleground states that fraud tainted the 2020 election, one of the people said.

… “President Trump campaigned on firing rogue bureaucrats who have engaged in the illegal weaponization of our American justice system, and the American people can expect he will deliver on that promise,” press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement. “One of the many reasons that President Trump won the election in a landslide is Americans are sick and tired of seeing their tax dollars spent on targeting the Biden-Harris Administration’s political enemies rather than going after real violent criminals in our streets.”

After the initial publication of this article, Trump’s team sent another statement from Leavitt: “President Trump and his transition team speaks for him, and anonymous sources not affiliated with him have no idea what they are talking about,” it said. …”

The amount of rewriting history will be astounding.
