Trump to take over D.C. Law Enforcement

Wow

I just finished watching the entire bat shit crazy press conference that our lying demented moronic "president" conducted.

Before watching I asked myself if I really wanted to subject myself to a 2 hour press conference featuring Trump and his two bootlickers Pete and Pam ?

I decided I should watch because this will be another chapter unfolding in the history of the decline of American democracy.

What was disappointing but not surprising was that no one in the press stood up and said, " With all due respect Mr. President, you have been lying to us for 2 hours and quite frankly this press conference brings in to question whether compos mentis is something for America to consider

According to Twain, the only distinctively American criminal class.
Don’t forget your county commissioners.

At my Mom’s 25th high school reunion, which was 43 years ago, one of her classmates bragged he was already retired. Mom asked, “How are you already retired?” He answered, “P, darlin’, I was a county commissioner for 12 years.”

An Orange County commissioner miraculously owned a significant chunk of land where I-40 crossed Hwy. 86. He was a Democrat……a Jesse Helms-Ronald Reagan supporting Democrat.

Today's press conference was the first time I've wished that if we have to have an autocrat, could we at least have one as smart as Xi?
Indeed. Apparently, the way to Make America Great Again is to elevate our first autocrat and tear down checks and balances and create a Unitary Executive so we can have, not a competent autocrat in charge like Xi, but a stereotypical bumbling, blowhard, incompetent, and incredibly corrupt Third World Banana Republic dictator that they don't even have very many of in the so-called Third World anymore.

The worst president in the history of this country continues to get worse day in and day out.

But according to Rammy his first six months in office have been awesome and fantastic. I mean, he's just winning in everything he does and beating those loser libs into the ground!

True, local politics is one reason why this state has sold its soul to developers - lots of city councilmen and county commissioners are making book with developers.

Murder rate in DC is dropping but is too high. Not as high as St Louis or Memphis but too high.

Is it an emergency requiring this intervention? Not compared with historical data but the USA is in terrible company internationally for murder rates:

So I agree that we owe it to ourselves to deal with our horrible murder rates but this does not seem like a good faith effort since it is so localized and heavy handed without acknowledging the national problem.

I learned about that right after I graduated. A buddy of mine told me about a summer job painting schools for the county that was inside ,out of the heat and paid better than farm work. He told me I should apply. I promptly went to the county offices, filled out an application and was promptly turned down. Didn't think much of it. I was just a little late. I went home and my buddy called to see how it went. I told him I didn't get the job. About and hour later, my buddy and his dad, a county commissioner , pulled up in the driveway. I was outside and went over. He told me that there had been a mistake and his son would be picking me up Monday for work. Opened my eyes a little bit more about how things worked.

Of all the stunts Trump has pulled with his pretend emergencies, this seems like the least concerning. DC is already under federal control in a number of way, and for obvious reasons. 30 days of federal police control doesn't seem that terrible.

Not ALL Americans, unfortunately, but a solid majority of us …

I can't wait to see what happens but what I won't do is be convinced this is a bad thing by anyone who supported the party who pumped in excess of 10 million people into this county from some or the most dangerous parts of this world completely unvetted? For all any of you know, many of the people who came in were the very same people who made the countries from which they were escaping so dangerous. And now they are here, being protected by the party who welcomed them in with open arm and free everything. We wouldn't have the problems we have today, certainly not in this magnitude, if not for soft on crime liberal policies.

And I hope the cops are truly allowed to do their jobs. The days of people being allowed to throw bricks, fireworks, frozen water bottles, spit in the faces of law enforcement etc. without them being able to properly defend themselves should end today. And I hope the message is sent in loud and clear fashion that those days are over.

Nicely done.

How Trump’s D.C. Police Takeover Is Uncharted Territory

President’s move opens new chapter in federal control of nation’s capital

🎁 —> https://www.wsj.com/politics/electi...2?st=zZrmt1&reflink=desktopwebshare_permalink

“… The police takeover will be overseen by Attorney General Pam Bondi, who put the newly confirmed head of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, Terrance Cole, in charge of running the police department. Even some within the department said they had no idea how the plan would play out in practice. Police spokespeople didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.

Before Trump made his announcement, the administration had begun deploying hundreds of federal agents across the city to assist local police in trouble spots. Trump said he had dispatched at least 500 federal agents, including more than 100 from the FBI, whose agents and analysts aren’t trained in traditional patrol work.

… While giving the president flexibility to respond to emergencies, Congress imposed limits on how long he could displace D.C.’s local elected leadership. The Home Rule Act specifies that the president’s emergency power expires after 48 hours unless he has notified the bipartisan leadership of the congressional committees responsible for D.C. of the reason to extend the period and when it is likely to end. The president’s emergency control automatically expires in 30 days unless Congress votes to extend it further.

Congress also can vote to terminate the emergency, although that is unlikely given Republican control of the House and Senate.“ [and they are out of session until September 9]”
