... “I have not seen a search that even remotely comes close to this. This would not pass muster for a first-year law school hypothetical exam to give both sides. It is blatantly illegal,” he said.

The magistrate judge's rebuke drew a sharp response from Pirro, a former Fox News host whom Trump appointed in May.

This judge has a long history of bending over backwards to release dangerous felons in possession of firearms, and on frequent occasions, he has downplayed the seriousness of felons who possess illegal firearms and the danger they pose to our community,” Pirro said in a statement. ..."
This seems at odds with Trump's embrace of the NRA and virtually unlimited unlicensed firearm rights. And what is also weird is that Pirro issued a memo a week ago directing that no one be charged for simple possession of a rifle or shotgun in DC because the Trump Administration disagrees with DC's restrictions on open carry of long guns in the city.

Seems like Pirro is having a rough time these days. She couldn't even get a grand jury to indict the ham sandwich throwing terrorist.

Maybe it would have been smarter for her to seek an indictment for the ham sandwich ?

We really are in crazy times when U.S. Attorneys are publicly attacking the very judges who preside over their cases.

In the Trump immunity case, the dissenters emphasized that there are guardrails for criminal actions against former presidents, namely indictment and conviction. Alito brushed away the indictment. You can indict a ham sandwich, he said. It was on that basis, in part, that they rested the notion of criminal immunity for presidents.

Sam Alito, of course, has no idea what it takes to obtain an indictment.

Just so we remember: the NRA didn't start becoming a rabid crazy organization until the 1970s. The gun culture/gun rights stuff has always been just part of the Southern strategy. It has always been a way to rally white people to a political cause without having to say n words.

And that's why they don't apply their principles consistently. Because they were never principles at all. They were just wallpaper for hate.
